Computer Geek turned Eyelash Expert

Originally, undecided in what field he was going to end up in, Rider University graduate of Computer Information Systems, Christopher Chin, has found his place within the beauty industry offering eyelash extension services years later.

After graduating, he entered the computer field following his father’s footsteps, which eventually made him notice that his decision to step within that industry was for all the wrong reasons. Opportunities came along his path throughout the years, like the Purchasing Coordinating position he had in 2006 with a company that eventually decided to downsize in October 2010, having his position no longer available. Like any passionate person, Christopher felt that what he needed was a field that would spark his interest and after being let go, he was going to do anything to make that vision come true.

Continuously looking for work thereafter, he landed a part-time position in a wellness center for a man who had just begun his business. Working in the back end of the business, Christopher’s interest in permanent cosmetics began to develop. It was something out of his element and certainly not a field he had given much thought to but he kept asking himself, “Could I learn and be part of the beauty industry?”. He soon came to the realization that he really could.

With the guidance of an experienced technician, he enrolled at Beau Institute in Mount Laurel to become a licensed permanent cosmetics technician of New Jersey in less than a month. Using the skills that he had learned during his training, he began building up his clientele by doing procedures within the wellness center, which eventually lead up to eyelash extension procedures. “It was such a matriculate form of art and required tons of patience. Again, I didn’t know if I could do it or see myself doing it. I decided to learn it, as I knew it would add to my skill set. Plus, there weren’t many guys doing it so I figured I could be unique and stand out from the rest.” Adding another skill under his belt his boss at the time sent him to Xtreme Lashes where he went through a training course, gaining another license within the beauty industry, as an Xtreme Lashes stylist. While he received all the hands-on experience and learned so much through the wellness center, he knew that he had to pursue his skill on his own in September of 2012.

Today you could find Christopher working on his own as a Freelancer, offering eyelash extension services primarily in Central Jersey with an opened mind to many opportunities elsewhere. To continue growing in his skills he wants to continue adding to his list of certifications, like his current enrollment at the Salon Profession Academy for the esthetician program.

He has found that what he is doing now for his career is endlessly bringing him that spark that he was missing in his past jobs, outside of the beauty industry. He has many aspirations for his future endeavors, “My biggest dream is to work in a medical environment for example a plastic surgeon’s office. I want to continue offering my services to enhance and continue to put a smile on people’s faces. This is my passion and I will continue to grow and adapt to different beauty trends”.
