Elementary Hair

Back in the playground days we all had pigtails, braids, and high ponies bouncing around on our adorable little heads as we played.  They sometimes got in the way of a competitive monkey bar race, but they made us feel cute and girly back in a time when that is of the utmost importance.  The good news for women everywhere is that many of these same hairstyles are now making a comeback.

The Ariana

This baby high pony is Ariana Grande’s signature look.  It’s particularly nice for women who don’t like to have their entire head of hair up, but still keep those pesky bangs out of the eyes.  If you like a bit more vavoom, just tease up the roots of the hair before pulling the front section up and snapping on a ponytail holder.  This style doesn’t particularly favor those with short hair, as the pony tends to look a bit bam bam style.

Braids never really went out of style, but until recently there haven’t been as many sightings of pigtail braids.  This is a perfect go to if your hair is a bit dirty and you don’t have time to apply any heat tools to it. If braided straight out of the shower, once hair is dry you can then remove the braids for beautiful tousled waves.  To turn this into a night look, spray some surf spray in it and it’s good to go.

The New Age Pigtail

There are so many variations of the pigtail these days, but my favorite would be one that Miss Khloe K frequents.  After putting your hair in loose pigtails, use little elastic bands to add sections down your remaining hair until you reach the bottom.  Then pull each section out a bit to make it more of a loose effortless style.  It should almost resemble teardrops running down your hair.  You can choose to make the sections as big and / or small as you like, depending on the look you want to go for.

The Spice Girl

Two baby buns on the top of your head can “spice up” anyone’s look (see what I did there).  Whether you have your crop top and 90’s choker on, and or are going a little Goth for the day, this look complements anything funky.  This style works super well with short hair as the little flyaways in the buns give that extra messy look.
When your running short on time and want to play up your girly side, try one of these fast and easy styles out.  Go on and get your playground on girl!
