MAX Talks New Music, Touring With R5 and Dishes On Working With Pharrell

By  |

With more than 1 million YouTube subscribers, people can’t get enough of MAX and the covers he’s done of popular songs including “As Long As You Love Me,” “Can’t Feel My Face” and “Payphone.”

When I recently met up with the 23-year-old actor, singer and model, he told me what popular song on the radio right now he’d like to cover.

“We’ve had a couple of shows with Alessia Cara who has that amazing song “Here,” and she’s just so cool, a very genuine girl. That’s one I’ve always really loved and I would love to cover.”

The NBC “Crisis” actor dropped an EP last month titled Wrong, which includes a remix of his song “Gibberishon it, thanks to Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, featuring Travie McCoy.

“I’ve been putting out these EPs that are a little taste of the album, so I’ve got the full album coming, and touring in the New Year with R5. We’re touring with them February to March, which should be cool, and hopefully a bunch of more touring from there.”

When the full album drops, you will see collaborations with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Pharrell on the track list He revealed exclusively to me how that came to be.

“So I’ve done a lot of covers on YouTube of other artists’ work with my really good friend, Kurt. We did a version of “Blurred Lines,” and Pharrells wife Helen saw the video and showed it to Pharrell and she’s like, ‘hey, I show you these videos sometimes, but you should hang with this kid maybe and do something with him.’ He reached out and we met up in New York City and we just hung and he played new music and it was incredible.”
