Third Annual Las Vegas Black Film Festival

It’s no secret that the film industry lacks in diversity. Just this past year, the issue on the representation of people of color in movies flooded newsfeeds and timelines. It even introduced the phrase and trending hashtag “#OscarsSoWhite

The Annual Las Vegas Black Film Festival comes at a time when an important conversation about race in the mainstream media is being talked about on a national level. This will be the festival’s third year of presenting awards, hosting acting classes, and screening the nominated entries.

The four-day event founded by filmmaker and “First Lady of Gospel Theatre,” Michelle Payne, kicks off Thursday, April 28th and will end that Sunday, May 1st.
