Usian Bolt, one of the fastest men on earth, is competing on the Jamaican team at The Rio Olympics after taking the world record for the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics. The biggest question is if he will beat his record in the 2016 Olympics and become a three- time winner.

On Sunday, August 14 Bolt beat his record and won the 100m with a time of 9.81, while Team USA’s Justin Gatlin won silver and Canadian Andre de Grasse came third.

On Tuesday, August 16, Bolt began his trek to beating his 200m world record by earning a place in the August 17 semi finals. Bolt has said he would like to make it under the 19 second mark.

Though Bolt hopes to make it under 19 seconds in the 200m his fastest time this year was 19.89 seconds at the London Anniversary Games in July.

Bolt faces some tough competition in Rio. Four runners have run quicker than Bolt at the 200m this season.

LaShawn Merritt of the USA, who ran a 19.74  at the US Olympic trials in Eugene and 100m silver medallist, Justin Gatlin, clocked 19.75 last month.[1]

The 200m finals will take place on Thursday, August 18 at 10:30pm Rio time.
