Celebrities giving back through fashion during NYFW

By  |

Dar’s runway show at New York Fashion Week was a vibrant demonstration of the movement that his quest has become, through creativity and empowering people to collaborate for a common goal. One hundred celebrities have donated their jeans for Dar to paint and auction to raise funds for the International Rescue Committee, and those jeans, embellished with Dar’s original 3D paintings, launched New York fashion week in style.

This runway presentation was a live viewing of the ‘Jeans For Refugees’ collection, enabling audiences to see Dar’s wearable art in movement, and preview new lots that will go live for bidding online on Friday 9th September. Johny Dar couture pieces were integrated with the sensational celebrity-donated jeans – flowing full-length gowns and pomegranate-red and golden-rose snakeskin, combinations of black mesh, fat black zippers, leather and silk fusions and innovative cuts redefined the body, while the high-energy impact of this dynamic show redefined the mind. Dar is also auctioning all the avant-garde haute couture featured for the refugee cause, with proceeds from the pieces to be donated to the Big Heart Foundation.

With the help of the International Rescue Committee and the Big Heart Foundation, all purchases of the collection showcased at NYFW will go towards practical effective ways of taking care of refugees all around the world. With only seven weeks left of bidding – and styles from the show exclusively available to bid for on catawiki.com/jeansforrefugees.com

’Jeans For Refugees’ boldly demonstrates the power of art and fashion to shine a light and light a fire, of hope and help, in the refugee crisis climate. Johny Dar’s runway show at NYFW not only delivered groundbreaking art and fashion, but a memorable message of innovation, communication and collaboration, and the compelling conviction that dawn ultimately breaks even the darkest night. A rich alchemy of talent and dedication, Dar’s creations are a fresh breeze of hope, and a new sunrise on the horizon. A dynamic renaissance – with heart and style – is in the air.
