Of course, travelling by train is practical and enjoyable. There’s a lot for you to see, you’re not harming the environment, and you’ll feel comfortable all throughout your travel. However, although there are a number of wonderful things related to train travel, there are still some myths and misconceptions about it. Here are some of those:
1. It’s Bad for the Environment

Some people believe that trains contribute to greenhouse gases which are very harmful for the environment. Little did they know that it’s quite the opposite. The truth is, trains are more energy efficient than cars and planes. Not just that, they don’t contribute to congestion and pollution unlike cars.

2. You Are Not Saving Money by Travelling by Train

This is NOT true at all. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of high-speed trains around the metro and if you are going to book in advance, you’ll be able to save a lot from this. For example, if you’re in Italy, you can go from Rome to Florence for just $21. Best of all, you don’t have to go to the airport, take part in the dreadful check-in procedures, worry about parking your car, and best of all, you’ll be able to save a significant amount of time.

3. No One Rides the Long-Distance Trains Anymore

Contrary to popular belief, most people would rather travel by train is possible instead of riding a plane. Not only is it more economical, but very affordable as well. Likewise, you can enjoy the wonderful sceneries running across your eyes.

4. Getting a Lot of Ticket Is Always Helpful

This isn’t always true, especially if you’re going for a long distance travel. What you have to do is sit down, consult a map, check your schedule, and budget your trip. That means, you should be getting a rail pass instead of several tickets.

5. There Isn’t Much Difference Between First-Class and Second-Class Travel 

Aside from their prices, the comfort level between the two varies. Wherein, first class compartments offer the maximum comfort for the passengers. Aside from that, there’s also ample space for you to keep your luggage. It’s also less crowded and more silent, which means, you’ll be able to enjoy every moment on the trans-Siberian express.

6. Trains Aren’t Safe

Although accidents happen everywhere, trains are considered to be the safest form of travel. In fact, according to research, railroads are incredibly safe– thanks to the latest innovation in technology and engineering, train rides have been safer than car and airplane rides.

7. Trains Are Boring

Most people, especially the younger generation think that when they ride the train, they will be forced to sit in a chair box for several hours. What they are not aware of is that they can actually move around the train, read a book, watch a movie, or take a nap.

8. Inconvenient

Last, but definitely not least, train rides are the most flexible mode of transportation because you don’t have to stick with someone else’ schedule. You can go to the train station whenever you want, and in case you miss your train, another one will always come after an hour or so.

With these myths and misconceptions debunked, there’s nothing that’s stopping you from travelling by train. Book a train trip as soon as possible. You’ll never regret that you did it.
