Why The Best Beauty Treatments Are Nutrients

The best makeup products out there don’t just enhance your appearance. They also improve the health of your hair and skin. Most people are aware that eating certain food products is hugely beneficial to the appearance of skin and hair. And while one should never skimp on healthy eating, there are alternative ways to add nutrients to this part of your beauty regime.

In fact, you can start by removing many of these healthy food products from the refrigerator or fruit bowl and applying them directly to your skin and hair. Nutrients are absorbed directly through the scalp, pores and hair follicles for more rapid benefits. Sensitive individuals have fewer concerns about allergy triggers. And the cost of these beauty and health treatments is no more expensive than your grocery bill. A couple of cautions before covering yourself in egg and fruit, however. Initial grocery store beauty treatments should be done carefully, just to make sure that there will be no issues with food allergies or skin reactions. And some of these “fruit bowl” beauty products can be messy and time consuming, both to make and apply.

Although your hair is actually dead skin, because it and your “living” skin are in different life stages, they have different nutritional requirements as well and the same products are not always appropriate for them. So for healthy, shiny, strong hair, try “hen fruit”, also known as eggs. The yolk of eggs is rich in protein, and makes an excellent moisturizer. The enzymes found in egg whites gobble up the bacteria that causes oily hair. Egg treatments should be applied to clean, damp hair. Use enough to coat the scalp and hair, leave on for twenty minutes, rinse with cool water, then shampoo again. Whole egg and yolk treatments should be used once a month, while egg whites can be applied every two weeks.

Commercial styling products and the environment can make your hair dry and dull. Undo this damage with 1/2 cup of plain yogurt or sour cream, applied every two weeks. Leave on twenty minutes, then rinse with warm water, followed by a cold water rinse, then normal shampooing. This dairy treatment both removes dirt and moisturizes hair. Did you know that honey is a humectant? In addition to being a tongue twister, this means that it’s a great natural moisturizer. Apply once a month to clean, damp hair, leave on twenty minutes, and rinse with warm water.

You can also give yourself “produce facials” that cleanse and restore your skin. Slices of cold cucumber applied to closed eyes can reduce puffiness around the eye. Cucumbers are full of antioxidants and flavonoids, which reduce irritation that causes this swelling. Or, you could treat your skin to a facial mask made with lemon juice. Aside from the obvious Vitamin C benefits, the lemon unclogs and tightens skin pores. Mix two tablespoons of flour, lemon juice and egg whites, apply with a soft brush, leave on twenty minutes, rinse off with lukewarm water, and add moisturizer. You can also combine tangerine juice with egg yolk for a facial to rehydrate skin. After thirty minutes, wash it off with cold water.

But you may not have time or the inclination for a “kitchen facial”. The good news is that it is possible to use a commercial product without fear of allergens or other side effects. One good example is Nu Skin products, which hydrate skin and alleviate dryness, reducing lines. And Nu Skin’s natural ingredients add the same nutrients to needy skin as that fruit bowl, creating healthy epidermis that looks and feels younger longer. In Nu Skin’s reviews you’ll see they have products that take the natural approach in creating healthier and stronger nails, as well. These products also cost substantially less than products making similar claims elsewhere. Products like Oxy-Tokin and Veralyze are also available, but can cost a hundred dollars or more, while some of Nu Skin’s products retail for twenty dollars or less, and are backed by the science and reputation of a company that has been an industry leader for more than twenty-five years.

So while beauty products that enhance skin health are hiding in your produce department, it’s good to know that products like Nu Skin offer a safe, inexpensive, and effective alternative as well.
