Andy Grammer Talks “DWTS”, New Music and New Year’s Resolutions

By  |

Last year was a great year for Andy Grammer—he performed at the World Series, was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars,” and most recently, helped ring in the New Year with a performance during “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”

I caught up with the “Honey, I’m Good.” singer at Electric 94.9’s Acoustic Christmas, and asked how he was going to raise the bar in 2016.

“Oh, man, I don’t know, that’s a lot of pressure. Actually, I think it comes from new songs. I’m going in to start writing some new material in January/February. So, I’m excited to get some new life going on.”

Andy is gearing up to hit the road to promote his album, Magazine or Novels, which took writing more than 100 songs to get the 11 that are on the album.

“For me, it’s just like you write until you have something that you know is really good, or you hope is really good. I had a lot of the songs on the album but I didn’t have the “Honey, I’m Good.” yet. And once we heard it, we knew.

As for one person who didn’t make the album that Andy would like to collaborate with in the future, “Stevie Wonder, Stevie—let’s do this. I love Stevie, that’d be awesome.”

While Andy isn’t touring, he’s hoping to take some time to achieve his New Year’s resolution.

“I’m going to try to meditate a little more. In this lifestyle, you get going really fast, and so I’m trying to figure out if I can find even 5 minutes a day to be quiet for a second.”
