Alex, all in all how do you summarize what you do? You’re an artist but also an actor, is that correct?

Yes, well I would say I’m a creative thinker. I found myself attracted to being an artist, on paper and behind the scenes. I express the way I see art into emotions in many ways. I’m a polymath and acting enables me to create a person in different suits of life.

Can you tell me a bit about how you got started painting?

It is actually quite difficult to put a time on it… I was always drawing many things as a kid and actually started to paint after feeling that drawing on a piece of paper wasn’t big enough. Art was something on and off I never really pursued it. After moving to LA from my small town in south of France that I really started to focus on it. I realized that people were actually very enthusiastic to see what I was able to create. I received a lot of love and support and it’s really appreciated.

Were you trained in art or self-taught?

I was self-taught; I have this strong ability to adapt myself and find the right way to achieve something. To me, It’s all about patience and dedication.

What’s your typical workday routine?

I wake up between 8 –9 a.m. When I don’t have anything planned before then I make some phone calls to my family in France check my emails, social media etc. I get ready around 10 am, eat something then head straight to my painting. By 6 p.m. I usually take a break for other stuff, then get back to painting at night until 2-3 a.m then go to bed.

What places or galleries have you previously had your work featured?

I started focusing on painting not that long ago, all this is new for me so for the moment I’m not at that stage where my resume is full of gallery shows yet. However, I’m looking forward to it all. Things are looking very good so far.

Your work features some pop culture icons like Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot, where do these influences come from?

I represent artist that inspired me in my painting by their beauty, charisma and their role in society but that is not the only thing I paint.

What’s one thing you think is integral to the work of an artist?

Inspiration is the key. Without it there is no artist.

What role does the artist (like yourself) have in society?

I feel an artist has a very important role in society, artists create and bring new emotions to people. Art is often a reflection or extension of personality. An artist can lead, follow, uplift or provoke with their work.

How has your art changed over time?

I would say it became closer to my emotions. I passed by different style of art in my life for instance; street graffiti, neo-expressionism, pop art and realism. I have this feeling of determination to conquer perfection. Unfortunately I’m always changing my mind.

What themes do you pursue when creating a new piece?

When I create a new piece it’s all about the feeling at that moment and of course the concept of the series, but I try to create something powerfully sexy and strong in emotions — and colorful.

What’s your favorite piece of work thus far?

The one I’m doing right now. I always try to improve and make something more beautiful than the last one.

Can you describe a real-life situation that inspired you?

If there is one moment in my life that changed me, I would say without a doubt, it was the first day I stepped foot in LA.. I literally fell in love with the city. I felt as if I was reborn. It gave me much inspiration to believe that everything was possible.

What memorable responses have you had to your work?

I don’t know yet. I mean every message I receive is great. You know, what I’m looking for is to inspire people. Sometimes the best response doesn’t need to be heard. I believe it happens inside of the body. Your eyes are telling me more than your words.

What is your dream project?

Marking my name in history.
