How to Dress Like a Star on July 4th

By  |

The Fourth of July is fast approaching and that means parties, fireworks and good old-fashioned American fun. I love this holiday because it comes at the perfect time of the year and without the pressures of gifts or big fancy parties. The only thing you need for a successful July 4th is a good group of friends and a little bit of good weather. The 4th is also a really fun holiday to dress for. It is probably the only holiday where you can dress a little bit thematic without looking insane (cue the ugly Christmas sweater). But before you go crazy and throw on everything you own that is red, white and blue, I have hand picked some of the best looks for almost every July 4th occasion. So whether you are going to a friend’s party or a long weekend down by the beach, I’ve got you covered.

Outdoor BBQ:

Going to a BBQ on July 4th has to be one of my favorite things to do. The mix of lots of good food, drinks and friends makes for the perfect combination. Since BBQ’s tend to be more casual events, the perfect ensemble is usually one that is both comfortable and patriotic. Think along the lines of a pair of ripped jean shorts, striped tank top and simple sandals or sneakers for the perfect look. I really like the looks Kate Bosworth and Beyonce put together last year while out and about.

Concert or Festival:

If your heading to a festival or concert this weekend, chances are you will need an outfit that will take you from day to night. For this outing I recommend a lightweight dress, ankle booties and a jean jacket that you can wear around your waist during the day and then throw on at night when the sun goes down. Nothing says Americana like a good old-fashioned jean jacket. Find one with the perfect amount of distressing and you have yourself the perfect look!

Beach Weekend:

Is there anything better than lying at the beach all day and watching the fireworks with sand between your toes at night? For this occasion I first recommend a festive bikini in red, white or blue, paired with a straw panama hat. Once the sun goes down, you can grab a chic cover up or a lightweight sweater if it gets chilly.
