Sneaker Report: The BBB Melo Ball 1

By  |

Throughout the sports world one family has been the most talked about and controversial for the entire year, and that is none other than the ball family. Headed by the talker himself, Lavar Ball and his superstar baller sons Lonzo, Liangelo, and Lamelo have been the talk of the sports world. Through his brand and his training Lavar has turned his sons into megastars. Lonzo has already been established as a star and given the keys to Los Angeles Lakers, while his brother Liangelo gears up for his freshman year at UCLA, and Lamelo is still figuring out pre-cal at just 16.

In the sneaker community the ball family shocked the world by releasing Lonzo’s first signature model through their own family brand, Big Baller Brand (BBB). Lonzo’s first shoe was revealed during the spring and dubbed the the “ZO2” and shocked the world with the price tag of 495$. After months of controversy the talk calmed down as people saw the move as a monumental and groundbreaking, but Big Baller Brand took it just a step further. Lavar decided to make even more noise by gifting his youngest son Lamelo with his first signature shoe the “Melo Ball 1”.

At just 16, Lamelo is the first ever high school athlete to have his own signature shoe. We can question his NCAA eligibility at a later date, but let’s focus on the groundbreaking history first. Big Baller Brand continues to stun the world and come up with innovative ways to break a systemic culture that the sneaker world is comfortable with. To create new rules you have to break them and that’s exactly the moves and Big Baller Brand has in store for the culture.

The “Melo Ball 1” features a low top silhouette, “shock absorbent materials”, and a camo flyknit upper. Melo designed the shoe himself and the model gives off a youthful fun vibe that is sure to draw a lot of fans to pick this up, even if the price tag is 395$. The shoe is sleek and really turns heads, which we wouldn’t expect anything less from Big Baller Brand. Check out the first promo for the shoe by SLAM and the images below and see if this 16 year old kid earns your sneaker respect.
