Owner and Chef, Salvatore Coppola, of  “Coppola’s Italian Restaurant” in NYC,  uses original family recipes from his upbringing in Naples Italy.  Unlike most restaurant owners, Coppola spends many hours in the kitchen for both of his establishments.  The restaurants cover both sides of Manhattan, one on 79th Street and the other in the Gramercy Area at 3rd Avenue.The menu offers plenty of variety of wonderful tasting experiences.  Coppola’s numerous pasta dishes, likeLinguine con Frutti di Mare,  are guaranteed to be fresh and are similarly satisfying.

Standout dishes include thePappardelle con Carne which is a tender rib ragu that is slowly cooked for more than 2 hours, with a carrot mashed potatoe side, standing true to the term “mashed.”  The Brick oven pizza has more than a dozen toppings to chose from, diversely including roasted eggplant, pepperoni, black olives, prosciutto and artichoke hearts, all made with superbly crispy crusts, vibrant crushed plum tomatoes, and first-rate mozzarella.
Intimate and charming decor creates the best atmosphere.  Its cozy dining room  is softly lit with a soothing ambiance which is more upscale, but still casual.  The restaurant also includes a private room for parties, catering, and even a take out menu. The staff makes you feel right at home, which is why on any given night you may run into a number of New York’s residents or visiting celebrities which include Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Nicolas Cage, and Eric Johnson.  With professional and knowledgeable service and fresh food that is made to order,  every neighborhood should have a Coppola restaurant.
