A Night At La Galerie Nationale Dubai
Alserkal Avenue serenaded us with music by Freshly Ground Sounds as they opened Galleries Night 2014. The air was hot with curiosity and the galleries witnessed traffic on another level. Yet with all the traffic, which is synonymous to Dubai, we were able to ignite the fever of art walking into some of our favorite galleries: Lawrie Shabibi, Salsali Private Museum, Isabelle van Den Eynde and Ayyam Gallery.
During Galleries Night, Lawrie Shabibi exposed us to “Act & Application”, an exhibition bringing to the forefront six contemporary artists each mastering a series of techniques in photography and multi media. Salsali Private Museum reconnected our emotions with “Submission of Powers” by Amir H ZanJani. Ayyam Gallery, an International and local favorite, gave us a chance to discover the young collector in all of us, featuring “The Young Collectors Auction Preview”. Lastly, one of my favorite Galleries, Isabelle van Den Eynde, presented “Rearranged” installation works by Bita Fayyzi. Fayyzi is a sculptor, installation artist and collaborator who brings together 3 dimensional collages, video and ceramics using materials that are easily accessible in her environment.
As we bid good night to Galleries Night 2014 and mark our calendars for Ouoz Art Festival in November, lets recognize that Dubai’s Art, Design and Fashion shows continue to grow, and doesn’t disappoint!
