PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2014

The pioneering Pakistan Fashion Design Council [PFDC] and L’Oréal Paris, the world’s leading beauty brand, bring together the most coveted designers from Pakistan to showcase their bridal and trousseau collections at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2014. Thick jacquards juxtaposed with silk tulles and organza, the collections did not disappoint as far as fairy tale wedding dresses go, complete with intricate embellishments and embroidery, dramatic drapery and accessories.

The season’s line up included seasoned bridal favorites like Sana Safinaz and NickieNina masterfully re-inventing traditional brides with soft silhouettes, to Fahad Hussayn’s avant-garde glamour and Ali Zeeshan’s structured theatrics. Bridal veteran HSY’s bold push from conventional red hues to a primarily black bridal line was a surprising shift from previous collections.
Designers new to the bridal scene also showed beautifully diaphanous silhouettes. Sania Maskatiya and Misha Lakhani showed that old is still new, with nostalgic glances to the subcontinent’s historical Mughal history.
