2015 Columbus International Auto Show Takes Over the Greater Columbus Convention Center

Every year around the time the ice melts and the Iris’s bloom the Greater Columbus Convention Center takes on that new car smell for approximately four days. This is when you know it’s time for the Columbus International Auto Show presented by Huntington Bank. And this year’s show had something for everyone from antiques, motorcycles, concept cars to dream cars that will make you drool.

There’s nowhere else where you can see 43 manufacturers under one roof allowing you to get up close and personal with the cars. One can feel the leather seats, touch the console and even take a few of them for a spin!

The indoor Ram Off-Road Experience will make a believer that the 2015 Ram 1500 or the Ram 3500 will not leave you stranded. 2015 Columbus International Auto Show attendees get to test the agility of the trucks themselves by driving them through dirt, logs, hills and the Ram “mountain” for the ultimate indoor off road experience.

If trucks aren’t your thing but you still want a thrill, no worries. The Polaris Slingshot had heads turning with the display of the 2015 SL model. It’s a three wheeled motorcycle that looks like something Batman would take for a spin. This low profile motorcycle sits a mere 5 inches off the road and looks a lot like a race car with an open air cockpit and even comes with a backup camera. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before!

But an auto show wouldn’t be an auto show without the everyday vehicles like Buick, GMC, Chevy, Nissan, Ford, Honda and Toyota to name a few. Well dressed representatives were on hand on behalf of all 43 manufacturers, answering questions and showing off cool features on most of the models. But there were a select few that no one is allowed to touch. Barricaded behind a partition were the Rolls Royce, Aston Martin DB9 Volante, Bentley, Maserati, and a Lamborghini that would set you back a cool $538,375 and many more luxury vehicles that will have you clenching your wallet. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little goal setting and dream shopping!

If the 2015 models weren’t new enough for you, The Columbus International Auto Show had plenty of 2016 models on display to gawk at like the Land Rover Discover Sport, Acura RDX, Honda HR-V, Ford Explorer and the Buick Cascada that was just premiered at the Detroit auto show.

And once you got tired of looking at cars, as if that really happens, you could rest in the lounge fitted with plenty of TVs showing the NCAA tournament games and a nearby cash bar. During your visit, you are constantly reminded to go vote for the “Ugliest Car in Columbus Contest” where a handful of ‘well loved’ cars were on display. The lucky winner with the most votes would soon be the owner of a 2015 Honda Accord. Ford even had an interactive ride where you could experience the feeling of driving an actual race car. The Columbus International Auto show was fun for the entire family, housing an Adventure Zone for kids to indulge at the COSI science spots, partake in the climbing wall or get crafty making American Girl kid and doll-sized travel tags. Special appearances from former Ohio State Buckeyes and animals from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium were crowd pleasing attractions that took place thought, the extended weekend.

Needless to say the Columbus International Auto Show is an event not to miss, bringing something new and shiny to Central Ohio every year.
