In the 17 years I’ve been in the upscale event production industry I can honestly say celebrity events have definitely commanded some of MWD Lifestyles best work.  With many leading icons having anywhere between 3-5 events per week chances are they’ve seen and experienced just about everything.  As an event lifestyle brand that keeps us on our toes when designing the overall look and feel.  We’ve had the opportunity to work with Jennifer Lopez, Magic Johnson and his Aspire Network team, Gwyneth Paltrow in collaboration with Groupon, Wendy Williams in collaboration with Essence Magazine as well as floral elements for photos shoots focused on President Barack Obama.  While these top influencers and thought leaders are unique, they do have something in common that sets the tone for stylish results no matter the event or industry: we both believe less is more and elegance is key.  In essence, this is our design aesthetic.

In case you’re wondering, there are a few golden rules of celebrity events in the industry.  If galas, activations and award ceremonies for some of the biggest names in entertainment, business and politics look effortless, as event designers and producers, we’ve done our job right.  An upscale or luxury event is meant to suspend time in a atmosphere that allows guests a chance to engage new products, raise their glasses in honor and celebrate milestones and enjoy entertainment.  The secret to making celebrity clients happy is to know what they dislike.

The meticulous planning process that happens in the months leading up to the actual event, however, is an entirely different story.  The top names in any business will take nothing less than the best to ensure a well designed and executed event where guests have a memorable experience.  It’s important for us to create and curate events that we feel strongly about on a design level.  We present 3D renderings, fabric swatches and mood boards to be as visual as possible so we can walk them through the event through our eyes from start to finish for our clients.  To plan logistics we not only take into account the event host but additional key players or performers need to also be well taken care of.  We elaborate on all the elements and why they’re important.

Our aim with any given event is to completely transform the space creating lounge areas, green rooms, custom designed backdrops dining areas and the floral ‘wow’ factor that brings the entire theme together.  By the time it all comes together, less may be more, but style is everything.  That’s the real take-away.
