5 Beauty Products You Need… even if you think you don’t

By  |

We all watch those YouTube videos where beauty gurus use products you’ve never even thought of using. And we all walk through the aisles of Ulta wondering if those products actually work.

I’m here to explain five products that you think you don’t need, but you actually do. Seriously,

1) SETTING SPRAY

NYX Setting Spray in Matte & Dewy

I heard that setting spray did wonders and never understood what the craze was about. I mean, how could a random liquid in a spray bottle help set makeup, right? Wrong! I never tried setting spray until a few weeks ago. And let me tell you, I am never going back! Before making setting spray my go-to product, I tested it to see how accurate the “long-lasting and durable” phrase on the label really was. I spent a day at a water park, worked in a building without air conditioning, and ran around doing errands in the heart of Phoenix and my makeup never ran or smeared. You may not think you need setting spray, but you do!

2) NUDE EYELINER

Rimmel Scandaleyes – Nude

What’s the point of applying a nude eyeliner? Won’t it just blend into your natural skin tone, making it hardly visible? That’s what I thought until I tried it. I like to apply a nude pencil liner to my bottom waterline or inner corners of my eyes. I find that this helps open my eyes up a whole lot more. Nude eyeliner also works to highlight the bottom of your brow bone. Versatile is definitely a good thing! To be a little more fancy, you can add a metallic silver liner to the inner corners of your eyes. Perfect and pretty!

3) SECHE VITE DRY FAST TOP COAT

Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat

I used to think that clear polish had no point. Why add a top coat to your beautiful manicure?

Just to make it shiny? Wrong! This top coat not only protects your nails from chipping, but it dries CRAZY FAST. No one likes to sit and wait for nails to dry. And let’s be honest, while waiting for our nails to dry, we almost always smudge them somehow. But after one coat of this clear polish, your nails will dry faster than you could ever think possible. This product is an absolute MUST.

4) OIL ABSORBING SHEETS

Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets

A while ago, I heard about oil absorbing sheets and never gave them a second thought. I used to think I could blot my face with a tissue to give the same effect as an absorbing sheet. That’s where I was wrong. You can find oil absorbing sheets almost anywhere and they come in convenient travel packaging. They soak up those oils that no one really wants, without removing any of your makeup. They leave you looking flawless with a completely matte makeup.

Sometimes shine isn’t always a good thing!

5) DRY SHAMPOO

Dove Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo

When I first heard about dry shampoo, I thought it was the weirdest thing. Why apply dry shampoo when you could just wash your hair in the shower, right? Wrong! Many hair stylists don’t encourage washing your hair daily, and many girls follow that advice. Less washes provides a healthier head of hair, but every girl knows that the longer you wait to wash your hair, the greasier your hair appears. And no one likes the feeling of walking around with greasy hair!

That’s where dry shampoo comes into play. Applying dry shampoo on the days where you don’t wash your hair essentially helps remove the unappealing oils, while still maintaining a healthy scalp. On the days when your hair is looking too greasy to function, dry shampoo is a definite go-to product.

Next time you’re curious about whether or not a product actually works, try it! It might become your next beauty essential!
