Every year, the 1st weekend of November, New York City is flooded with the sounds of runner enthusiast. And what would be one of New York’s busiest weekends, the TCS NYC Marathon would take place stretching a total of 26.2 miles within the cities 5 boroughs. From the Verrazano Bridge to Central Park, over 50,000 runners from around the world would have the opportunity to run the words most famous and televised marathon.

Social Influencer, Blogger and Local New Yorker Maria Solis Belizaire would also have a chance to complete 26.2 grueling miles starting at New York’s Staten Island. “I didn’t think 2 months ago I would be able to run it, but thanks to the marathon’s “”Run for Charity” Program, I was able to get a slot in order to compete,” Maria said. Having run for The Covenant House’s “Home Team”, Maria and countless other runners, would join a charity for a guaranteed slot if they were unable to enter through NYRR’s 9 + 1 program, or through the Marathon’s lotto. Having completed 2014, where her phone died on her at mile 16, Maria insisted that this year she would be fully prepared. With and iPod and back up charger for her phone in hand, she posted her experience online as she crossed every mile marker. “I just want to show people out there, that running a marathon can also be fun and exciting. I also want to show the young adults living at the Covenant House how the challenges they are facing are similar to how one would triumph through a marathon.”
