Spring Workout Trends

By  |

Lately it seems like the typical way for people to get healthy is following fads. They start small and spread around the world. Just this past year there has been the waist cincher trend, the body wrap trend and more. They are especially becoming more popular recently because the weather is beginning to ease up and it’s almost time for the beach bod. 2These are the newest trends for getting healthy in 2016.

POUND

Cristina Peerenboom and Kirsten Potenza, former drummer, collaborated their love for music and fitness and created Pound. It is a full body cardio workout that uses lightweight sticks, called Ripsticks, with isometrics, plyometrics and pilates mixed with constant drumming to burn around 900 calories in 45 minutes.

PHYSIQUE 57

Tanya Beck created Physique 57 is a barre workout intermixed with cardio, strength training, stretching and recovery.  These exercises target specific muscle groups to the point of exhaustion and then you will be able to see the results almost immediately.

HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has consistently stayed popular. This is where you do high energy workouts within a short period of time followed by short periods of rest. Familiar examples of HIIT are Insanity and Tabata.

SOULCYCLE

Soulcycle is majorly popular among celebrities and fitness experts. You just go to a studio for a 45 minute class where you will get a full body cardio workout, they have even added weights and core work to the routine, while on a cycle.

RAGE YOGA

Rage yoga is the new yoga. On the rage yoga website it is defined as, “a practice involving stretching, positional exercises and bad humor, with the goal of attaining good health and to become zen as f*ck. More than just a practice, Rage Yoga is an attitude.” It was created for those who feel uncomfortable in a class or studio and still want to participate in yoga.
