Tips for Designing Your Wedding Photo Album

By  |

Your wedding day is everything that you had dreamed and you have fallen in love with the photos that were captured. Finding the best wedding photographer is essential and the only way to get these timeless photos. Now is the time to create your wedding photo album that will be how you tell the story of your wedding in the years to come. The following list provides you with some design tips that can help you create the album of your dreams.

Number 1: Relax

Once the wedding is over, chances are the last thing you want to do is think more about the wedding. You are likely tired and ready to start your life as newly married couple. However, do not wait too long to begin planning your wedding album.

Number 2: Are you going to design your album, or let someone else?

If you are someone who wants total control over your wedding album, you should probably design the entire book yourself. However, if you just want a great looking book full of your favorite wedding memories, select the pictures that you wish to use and then allow a third-party to arrange them.

Number 3: Determine what you want your album to look like.

It is important to make decisions such as the number of pages in your album, the design style you wish to use and the color of the album, before you select any pictures. This will help expedite the entire process and ensure that you receive the look you desire.

Number 4: Divide the wedding album into chapters.

No matter if your wedding album is 20 pages, or 200 pages, you should divide each of the sections into chapters. An example of a chapter layout for a 30 page wedding album would be as follows:

  • The Bride and Groom: 1 to 2 pages
  • The Bride and Groom getting ready: 2 to 4 pages
  • The First Look: 2 to 4 pages
  • The Actual Ceremony: 2 to 4 pages
  • The Couple After the Wedding: 2 to 4 pages
  • Photos of both families: 2 to 4 pages
  • The Reception or After Party: 2 to 4 pages
  • Closing: 2 to 4 pages

Number 5: Select the best or your favorite photos.

There is no magic formula that will help you select the photos that you will use in your photo album. This choice will be unique to you, your new spouse and what you want to be included. It is important not to waste space in your album with poses that are similar, instead select your favorite and move on.
