Far Hills Race at the Hunt – Where Millenials go after the Hampton parties are over.
Every October, thousands of socialites from the Tri-State area meet at the Moorland Farms (a.k.a. The Hunt) in North Jersey for the Far Hills Race Meeting, one of the largest steeple horse race meets in the world.
In its 96th year, this annual race brings out over 35,000 thousand people, young and old for a day of food, friends and festivities.
Patrons typically rent out one of the 1,600 plus tailgate spots to set up their display of festive decorations, food and seating. There are two sections where you can set up your party. The first one is on the hill overlooking the race where the atmosphere is more family oriented. Here you will find lavish place setting, families and corporate gatherings.
Then you have the infamous center tailgate section… Located in the middle of the horse race track is one massive tailgate party filled with thousands of plaid shirt, hunter boot wearing Millennials, liquor and music. The younger crowd may not pay too much attention to the actual race, but this may be the largest social event of the year (think Hampton’s crowd, fraternity and high school reunion combined).
Whether you are into horse racing or not, this is defiantly an event you do not want to miss. Mark your calendars for next year’s race scheduled on October 17, 2017.
