Mykonos is one of Greece’s most glamorous islands, making it a perfect location to visit for honeymooning newly weds. The island is found in the Cyclades group in the Aegean Sea and can be easily reached by air or boat from nearby islands.

Due to the boom in tourism to Mykonos, new hotels, beach bars and restaurants are popping up all over the island just waiting to be explored. The island also offers a multitude of activities for everyone to enjoy, from visiting ancient ruins to scuba diving and sailing.

WHERE TO STAY

Choosing where to stay is typically the most important decision when planning a honeymoon. Thankfully Mykonos isn’t short of interesting places to stay, with luxury hotels and private villas to rent all over the island.

The Rocabella Mykonos Art Hotel & Spa is located in a picturesque setting just 150 meters away from the Agios Stefanos beach. The hotel is surprisingly affordable, and offers the height of luxury. All rooms offer a beautiful sea view, and most rooms even include a private Jacuzzi, a must-have for any honeymooning couple. The Best of Mykonos for Honeymooners

BEACH AND SEA

One of the main reasons for choosing an island as a honeymoon destination is the number of beautiful coves, beaches and water based activities on offer.

Elia Beach is the longest beach on the island, perfect for hand held strolls along the pristine sand whilst Praga Beach is a popular spot for sipping cocktails and watching the sunset.

For the active couples among you, there’s no shortage of activities to get involved in. One of our favourites is a scuba diving tour ‘GoDive’ which takes you to your choice of either the Anna II shipwreck, or a nearby coral reef, both bustling with marine life. The GoDive team makes the experience easy and safe for first time divers, so if you’ve never dived before, there’s no need to worry. Nothing says romance like scuba diving hand in hand! The Best of Mykonos for Honeymooners

Another fantastic option is the Mykonos Kayak day tour, which takes you out into the ocean on a kayak to explore the beautiful, un-spoilt areas of Mykonos. Some of the stops along the tour include remote beaches, coves with perfectly clear water, caves and even fjords. Along the way the tour operates take photos to capture the memories and afterwards traditional Greek food is served in a gorgeous hidden location. Definitely one you shouldn’t miss on your honeymoon.

BACK ON DRY LAND

Besides the beaches and water activities, Mykonos is known for it’s stunning white architecture which is best explored on foot in the likes of Mykonos Town, home to the famous Windmills. The island is also home to a number of hiking trails and bike tours. The Best of Mykonos for Honeymooners

EATING OUT

Finally, you can’t visit Mykonos without visiting a few of the top restaurants to sample the traditional Greek food on offer. For delicious Mediterranean cuisine M-eating is a delightful restaurant located within a traditional building in Mykonos Town. The restaurant is also friendly for both vegetarian and vegan diners.

For something a little more relaxed, we recommend visiting Avli Tou Thodori. The team consistently provides excellent, professional service and the food is exquisite at an affordable price. The restaurant is located on the beachfront, with a fantastic selection of wine and cocktails to choose from.

So there you have it, something for everyone on this beautiful romantic island!
