Nike Air Force 1 NIKEID Black Mamba Edition

Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O’Neal our just a few of the Laker jerseys that have been retired into the raptors.


They are legends that have taken on the montra of icon. One more name will be joined with that iconic class tonight as Kobe Bryant jerseys both 8 & 24 will be retired tonight during the Lakers matchup with the Golden State Warriors.

Kobe has had one of the most iconic NBA careers that only some can dream of. Fans can think back to his days of hanging 81 on Jalen Rose’s head, hitting that crazy game winner of Dwayne Wade, giving the Celtics hell in the 2010 NBA finals, and don’t forget those classic puppet commercials with Lebron. Kobe walked away from the game with five titles, an MVP, and a gold medal. As an all-time great on the floor, he left legacy not just with his game but also with his sneaker line. Since his afro days with Adidas, Kobe has been one of biggest sneaker box stars and nike continues to honor the Mamba with new collaborations.

Tonight during tip off of the Lakers matchup with the Warriors, Nike will be releasing a new NIKEID version of the Air Force 1 in tribute of the Mamba. The model features an all black snake skin-like upper, a “drop shadow swoosh” and both numbers 8 & 24 featured on the heel. Also on the tongue features eight stars on each shoe in honor of the Lakers 16 titles.

Kobe Bryant’s legacy is untouched and hardly matched by anyone. His swag, his charisma, his mamba mentality, and his strive for greatness will always be remembered.
