What Australia Has to Offer Outside Sydney

By  |

Depending on the amount of time you have available, it’s important to prioritise your trip to Australia, as there are some sights you really must see. Whether it is Sydney’s beaches, roaming coastline, the deep red sands of Uluru or the exotic underwater experiences of the great barrier reef. There are some truly iconic places that will stay with you forever. Australia is a beautiful country with so much to offer.

As Sydney Opera House is on most people’s bucket list and therefore Sydney, we thought it wise to pull together a list of potential travel destinations around Australia to help with your travel planning. It’s important to remember – the scale and variety of what Australia has to offer means that planning your trip over will require considerable research, as Australia is a large country with considerable travel time between your chosen destinations.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory features exceptionally stunning scenery, filled with Australian wildlife and legitimately iconic red landscapes. The Northern Territory offers both the outback as well as a lively, multicultural city. What with Darwin’s tropical weather, having your own serviced apartment to retire to when things get too much will be a luxury you will cherish. Darwin apartments are a great way to explore, whilst still having a comfortable base.

Things like hiking and exploring National Parks are a refreshing way to experience the Australian landscape and get some exercise at the same time. Kings Canyon is a popular destination, with its sandstone walls and red rock around the gorge and close proximity to Alice Springs.

Queensland

You simply can’t visit Australia without seeing the great barrier reef. It is the largest coral ecosystem on the planet, after all. It features hundreds of types of coral and thousands of different species of fish leaving you wishing for more time at sea. Both Cairns and Port Douglas are both great locations for boat trips to the reef and great places to stay and enjoy the city.

Close by is the Daintree rainforest, one of the oldest rainforests in the world, where you can zipline and get a birds eye view of the forest below. Alternatively, if heights aren’t your thing, another amazing way to see this expansive rainforest is by boat. A river cruise allows you to experience the forest by night whilst keeping an eye out for crocodiles out on the prowl.

Victoria

The Great Ocean Road is a famous coastal drive, following the rugged coastal region of Victoria. The views are magnificent, meaning you’ll want to take your time travelling the whole distance, with stop offs on the way to soak it all in. It’s a scenic drive which takes you through beautiful beach towns and all the way to the 12 Apostles which are a popular tourist spot.

Western Australia

Margaret River may be a small town near Perth, but it sure does have a lot to shout about. Margaret River is known for its boutique breweries, stunning wineries and sandy beaches, and it’s all within easy reach of Perth. Because of this, daily buses enable visitors to enjoy every part of Margaret River without someone needing to be designated driver.

If you’re looking to spend more than a day trip there are a lot of options when it comes to accommodation, from luxury hotels to camping under the stars this adventurous town really does have it all.

South Australia

If wine and food is a passion of yours Adelaide is certainly a place to get your fix. Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley are just two areas which spring to mind. Come to South Australia and experience a different pace of life with all the gourmet luxuries you could wish for.
