Preventing the First Signs of Skin Ageing

By  |

We all age and that is completely natural and normal. But when we haven’t treated our skin or our bodies well, it does really have an impact on how fast the ageing process can take on us. I’m sure we have all seen someone whose skin makes them look older than they really are. And while getting older is a privilege that is denied to many, it doesn’t mean that you have to look older than you really are. So with that in mind, here are some things that you can do to slow down the ageing process and take care of your skin in a much better way. Is there anything else that you would add to the list?

Be Safe in the Sun

The sun can be harmful to us in many ways, but the most harmful impact in can have on us is the impact on our skin. If you want to prevent premature ageing, then looking after your skin and protecting your skin from the sun is one of the best ways to do it. The easiest way is to wear an SPF all year round, even in the colder and colder weather. Getting a BB cream or foundation is a simple way of making sure that you are protected.

Consider Supplements

There are certain vitamins and minerals that are going to be better for your skin than others will be. And if you can’t get enough from your diet, then it really makes a difference if you can get some of those vitamins in other ways. Vitamin A is a great vitamin for ageing, as it can help to build collagen and repair tissue. Vitamin C is also a great vitamin to get plenty of in your diet. You could take a supplement, or even look for something like a vitamin c serum. In serum form, it can be a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin and promotes skin healing.

Lower Your Stress

When we are under stress, it can have a big impact on our bodies. It can prepare us for a ‘fight or flight’ which can release hormones and can even lead to inflammation. That can lead to our cells ageing much faster than they might otherwise. And if our cells are ageing, then it can mean that your skin will show it as a result. Of course, eliminating stress from your life completely is likely not to be possible. So in that case, it is a good idea to look for better ways to deal with stress. That may be something like walking or doing yoga, or simply counting to ten before acting on something and taking deep breaths.

Stop Smoking

If you are a smoker, you will probably know of the impact that smoking has on your body. But it really can cause premature ageing. Because of the toxins and nicotine in the cigarettes, it can starve your skin of oxygen that it needs, which can lead to dull looking skin, wrinkles, and sagging skin.
