What To Do In The Summer Before College

By  |

Going off to college is a very exciting experience and by the end of the summer, many students are itching to get away and start their new life. Of course, before you set off, there are some things that you should do in order to be ready for the next part of your life. In this article, we are going to discuss some of the things that you should do in the summer before college. Make sure to keep reading if you’d like to find out more.

The first thing that you should do when you know which college you are heading off to is some research. Take a look at some of the things that you can get up to in the new place that you are going to be living in. You might want to find out about the general rules of your dorm rooms or maybe the laws that change state by state. There is no harm in doing research and sometimes it is as easy as chatting with someone that has already been to that college.

Connect With Old Classmates

Before you set off, you might want to connect with some of your old classmates on social media or through phone numbers. This way, you’ll be able to stay in touch with them when you set off on your next adventure. You might even want to stay in touch with them so that you can share your experiences and spend the summers together when you are all back in your hometown. Make sure not to forget about your old friends when you are out meeting new ones.

Set Up A Bank Account

If you already have had jobs while at high school, you might already have a bank account. However, the great thing about being a student is that you can get your hands on a student checking account and all of the perks that go along with it. Make sure to set one of these up and you will be able to use it while you are away from home and have to spend your own money.

Find New Classmates

Another thing that you can do before setting off to college is connect with your new classmates and the people that will be in your college dorm. A lot of colleges are on social media and they set up pages for students to connect with each other and get to know one another before they move in together. You might feel a lot more confident about moving into your new dorm room if you have already had a few chats with your roommate before going!

Summer Reading

Our final tip is for those who want to make sure they are on top of their college work. Depending on your course, you might have already been given some work to do in preparation for your first class. Make sure to take this on board and try and do all of the work before you go.
