How To Avoid The Pain Of Having A Period When You Are About To Travel

By  |

Whilst some women are lucky enough to be able to get through their monthly cycle without a worry, others are not so blessed.

No matter your symptoms, which range anywhere from emotional highs and tearful lows with a side serving of anxiety, hopelessness and rage, to the more physical outbreaks of bloating, cramping and headaches, you are certainly not alone when it comes to wanting to avoid the pain of having a period when you are about to travel!

Yet, with some forward thinking and preparation time, you can delay your period simply and easily until after your holiday when you are safely out of a bikini and back into your jeans.  So depending on whether you are willing to try out a more natural method, you are already taking a form of the contraceptive pill, or you are happy to speak to your doctor about alternatives, there are a number of options you can try.

The Natural Method

With no guarantee of delaying your period but with plenty of speculation as to how and why it works, these tried and tested ‘natural’ methods can potentially delay your period for anywhere up to a week.

Gram Lentil Soup

Using a cup of gram lentils, fry them up until they soften and use a processor to turn them into a powder/paste.  Use this as the basis of a soup and take it every day for a week prior to your normal period start date.

Parsley Leaf Tea

Using 1/4 of a cup of fresh parsley leaves and a quarter of a litre of freshly boiled water, steep the leaves for 20 minutes and then remove and drink.  Take this two to three times a day from the week before your period.

Contraceptive Pill

If you are taking the combined contraceptive pill then instead of having a 7 day break after the first 21 pills, simply continue taking the next pack without the usual break.  This should delay your period for that month.

If you take the ‘everyday’ pills then when you complete the first 21 ‘active’ pills, throw away the rest of the pills which are known as ‘inactive’ pills, and start a new pack right away.

Prescribed Medication

An alternative and guaranteed method of period delay is a medication prescribed by the doctor and available from Click Pharmacy known as Norethisterone.  You begin taking these progesterone rich pills three days prior to your usual start date.  The result of keeping your progesterone levels high in your system is that your womb lining will not shed until they drop again, meaning your period will be delayed.

How long you delay it for is up to you but you may take Norethisterone for anywhere up to 17 days. Once you have stopped taking them, your cycle should begin again in 2 to 3 days.

If you have any questions about Norethisterone, or you would like to purchase a supply of them prior to your holiday, then please visit https://www.clickpharmacy.co.uk/ today or contact their experts for support and advice.
