Camilla Hansson: What it takes to be a Healthy and Confident Woman

By  |

Camilla Hansson: successful businesswoman, confident supermodel, and inspiring woman. I had the pleasure to interview the humble Camilla on her lifestyle, her goals, and on what it takes to be confident.

Camilla, you are former Miss Sweden and former Miss Earth Sweden. What did you take from this experience, and how do you use it now in your everyday life?

It taught me how to feel confident and how to maximize my image. It also taught me how your posture, attitude and body language are all important aspects in how people perceive you. It’s a very useful tool to use in certain work and social situations.

Holistic health is a passion of yours. What sparked this passion? What are some holistic practices that you bring into your every day life?

Yes, learning and applying the principles of holistic health has become my life’s passion and calling. After Miss Universe, I went to study to become a nutritionist and Naturopath. I was struggling with breakouts, weight, and period pain in my early 20s, some of it which started after having been on antibiotics for a while due to pneumonia. I wanted to find answers and it was not in the traditional medicine world in my case.

Some of the holistic practices I incorporate into my everyday life are intermitted fasting, dry skin brushing, using steam rooms/saunas, and starting my day with fruit only. All of this helps me feel and look my best.

You have a diploma in nutrition, and I’m dying to know what your favorite cheat meal is. What do you eat on a daily basis?

I would say my favorite cheat meal would be what I had just recently over the holidays: traditional Swedish Christmas food with my family! It’s pretty heavy but it’s only Christmas once a year so I let myself totally enjoy it without feeling any guilt. However I did make sure to at least exercise over this period. I am always trying to keep things in balance.

I eat a plant-based diet, which means that the majority of my diet is made up of plants. I do eat some animal products here and there. I enjoy eating only fruits for breakfast and then for lunch I might have some salmon with vegetables. For dinner I’ll maybe have a soup with some side vegetables. It also varies depending on the season. In the winter I eat mainly warm cooked foods and in the summer I eat raw cold foods, like salads.

Besides nutrition, what else do you do to stay fit?

At the moment I do a mixture of Barry’s Bootcamp, barre classes, and cardio in the morning. Sometimes I just pop into the gym for 30 minutes and do whatever I feel in that moment. Anything is better than nothing!

You teach courses and workshops on confidence. What makes someone confident, and why is confidence so important?

I think what makes someone confident is a combination of factors. What I teach is social etiquette and pageant classes. Like mentioned earlier, knowing how to use your body language, having a confident attitude and mindset, good social skills, and knowing the correct etiquette will all help you to be more confident. Confidence is needed for anything you want to do in life really. Without it you will be held back.

You currently serve as an ambassador to Women’s Environmental Network. What does this organization do? What do you want people to know about it?

Women’s Environmental Network is a UK Charity working on issues that link women, health, and the environment. At the moment we are not doing any work together, but I encourage everyone to look them up! They have a lot of helpful information on their website about how to avoid harmful toxins in the environment, specifically for women.

Picture yourself ten years from now. What are your plans for the future?

I try to live day by day as it can get a bit overwhelming otherwise, but I certainly see myself working in the field of health and wellness. I’m launching a health and beauty blog shortly with my sister. In the blog I will share all of my inside secrets. Take it from someone who has been in this industry for a while. Stay tuned for that!

If you could give one piece of health advice to a young woman, what would it be?

Learn how to cook your own food. If you do that then you can’t go wrong.
