Taking Steps Towards a Better You in 2019
We have finally stepped into 2019 and now is a better time than ever to focus on a little self improvement. This is the season where increasing numbers of us take a look at our life choices and decide to improve upon them in some way or another. We all went to be the best version of ourselves and there are various things that we can do to achieve this – opening up a new calendar and journal just means it’s easier to monitor how long we have committed to making ourselves better people! So, if you’re struggling for some resolutions that can help you to take steps towards a better you in the upcoming twelve months, here are some ideas to get you started in the right direction!
Kick Bad Health Habits
Take a look at your current lifestyle. Are there any unhealthy habits or behaviours that you regularly engage with? Chances are that the answer is yes. After all, none of us are perfect and we all have our individual vices that we tend to engage with. But now is the best time to out a stop to negative health habits! If you are eating too much fast food rather than cooking healthy, wholesome meals at home, start creating a healthy meal plan for yourself and stick to it. If you find that you are regularly consuming more alcohol than is recommended, consider reaching out to an Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Rehab centre. If you smoke, reach out to a family doctor for advice on how to quit. Consider using nicotine patches, nicotine gum, or other alternatives to wean yourself off cigarettes and tobacco!
Implement New Positive Health Habits
Once you’ve started cutting out particularly unhealthy habits, or if you didn’t have any to start with, you might want to implement new positive health habits into your life. Take out a gym membership or join a local sports team and ensure that you get your recommended 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a week. If you’re pushed for time, you can engage with 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise instead. Make sure that you are ticking all of the boxes when it comes to fuelling your body with the right food – consider trying out superfoods and products like Spirulina. Engage with some sort of holistic exercise, such as yoga or pilates, which can help to clear your mind as well as your body.
Become More Organised
Speaking of maintaining better mental health, you might want to consider taking this opportunity to become a little more organised. The better planned out your life is, the more productive you can be and the less time you will waste procrastinating or avoiding responsibilities. Invest in a new journal or planner. Make sure to stick to appointments. Complete your work on time. These are all steps that can help your days to tick over like clockwork!
These are just a few steps that you might want to consider on your journey towards a better you! Try implementing them into your regime as soon as possible!
