5 Ways to Destress After a Business and Stressful Month
Just like death and taxes, stress is an unavoidable part of life. However, unlike the first two, you can do something about stress.
If you cannot avoid stress in your daily business life, there is something you can do about it and Tallman Dermatology and Medical Spa can help. No matter what your business life is like, you need to de-stress as much as possible.
Below are 5 ways to de-stress after a busy and stressful month.
1. Strive for a Mind-Body Balance
When individuals are stressed, they tend to ignore what they need most, healthy food and self-care.
Healthy Foods – It is easy to grab the first thing you see to eat, and to eat for comfort, not fuel. But your body needs healthy foods to fight stress and potential illnesses.
If you don’t have “junk food” in your house, you won’t eat it. So out of sight, out of mind works well here. When you go to the grocery store, stock up on fruits and veggies instead of processed stack foods. You will feel better and fight the stress that weighs you down.
Self-Care – This something many individuals ignore because they have other people to care for and so much to do. But if you are run-down, you can’t care for others the way you may want.
First, make sure you get enough sleep. Unfortunately, stressed individuals skip a good night’s sleep. Something a stressed body needs to regroup and become stronger for another day’s stresses.
Next, get some daily exercise. Everyone knows that exercise is good for the body, but many may not realize it is good for the mind as well. Even a short walk can help clear your mind and prepare you for the next task you need to work on.
2. Practice Meditation Daily
Many individuals believe they cannot meditate because their mind races. Meditation is not always about clearing the mind. You can be calm and silent, and you can follow your thoughts, just practice bringing them back to the present.
Breathing is important in mediation because it gives you something to concentrate on and brings your thoughts back to the present.
3. Plan Ahead
Make a practice of leaving yourself a little extra time. This included time to get ready and travel time to work or other places.
Arriving early is always less stressful than arriving late. Use the extra time to meditate on what you are about to do.
4. Practice Gratitude
It may be trendy to have a “gratitude journal,” but individuals that practice gratitude is going to be much happier and less stressed than those who don’t practice.
Even if you don’t have time to write down what you are thankful for, you can keep it in mind or say it out loud. Being grateful for what you have, will bring more good and less stress to your life.
It isn’t always possible to plan a getaway each week but take advantage of your vacation days. A vacation is an optimum time to recharge and de-stress.
Even if you plan on staying home, a “staycation”, you can plan relaxing activities and leave the stress of work where it belongs, at work.
Try to find silence and a calmness every day. Eat healthily and exercise each day to combat stress. Concentrate on self-care and you will be happier and healthier in order to work at your best.
