Celebrities tend to have a huge platform, and people listen to them. This often means that people take the things they say as gospel, even going as far as to take medical advice from them even though they are not qualified to give it out. Sure, they may think that something has worked for them, but that doesn’t always mean that it will work for everybody else! Here, we’re going to talk about the celebrity health tricks that actually work, and some that don’t, too. Read on if you want to find out what you should be listening to and what you should really be avoiding.

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is a health tip you’ll often find celebrities give out. Gabrielle Union and Cameron Diaz are just two celebs who love drinking plain old H20 and encourage others to do the same. Drinking water is a must, and should be your priority each day. Ideally, you’ll drink a minimum of 2 litres to stay hydrated and keep everything working well in your body. Water also flushes out toxins, can reduce bloating, and will keep you fuller for longer so you’re less likely to overeat.

Pay Attention When You Eat Your Meals

Paying close attention when we eat our meals isn’t something that tends to come naturally. After all, we all have busy lives, so it’s likely that we multitask if we can. We often cook and eat food while we’re somewhere else in our heads at least. However, celebrities like Goldie Hawn recommend that you pay close attention when eating. This is a great tip, as it allows better enjoyment of the food we eat, and encourages us to get in touch with our bodies and really listen to our hunger cues.

Do Yoga

There are many spiritual celebrities who love yoga; Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Russell Brand to name just a few. The great thing about yoga is that it’s ideal for flexibility, and it’s another activity that will help you to get back in touch with your body. It’s wonderful for health, fitness, and even stress relief. If you don’t like yoga, try pilates – although yoga tends to focus more on the spiritual aspect of things.

Of course, providing you’re finding different ways to stay active, you don’t need to do yoga at all.

Quit Smoking

Smoking is a terrible habit, and something that should be avoided at all costs unless you want premature ageing, yellow teeth, and all kinds of other issues. Katy Perry and Leonardo Dicaprio are just two Celebrities who vape and have quit cigarettes because of it. However, there are lots of other methods out there you can try, from gum to patches. It will be hard at first, but it’ll be one of the best things you ever do for your health.

Eat A Balanced Diet

You should never starve yourself, or get into the ‘cheat day’ mentality where you don’t eat enough during the week and eat too much on the weekend. Instead, just focus on eating a balanced diet year round. Jessica Alba loves a diet full of micronutrients and makes sure each meal is well balanced with protein, carbs, and fats.

Don’t Weigh Yourself

Weighing yourself isn’t usually a good idea. It doesn’t give a lot of information, other than how heavy you are in relation to everything else. This really doesn’t give an accurate picture of your health, as it doesn’t take many other important factors into account. It’s old fashioned to use weight as an indication of health, and many people also make the mistake as using it as an indication of their worth. If you’ve been living a healthy lifestyle and changed lots of habits, you might hop on the scales. If the number isn’t pleasing to you for whatever reason, then it could set you back and force you into your old habits or an unhealthy mindset. Weight can fluctuate for numerous reasons, too, making it even more unreliable. Selena Gomez doesn’t weigh herself. Ignore magazines and Instagram pages that make you feel like you need to weigh yourself!

Keep A Healthy Mindset

A healthy mindset is key to improving your health and your life. It can be tough, but Drew Barrymore does it by finding the beauty and good in everything she possibly can. She also likes to grow her own food, which is a wonderful hobby and great for her physical/mental health. Try to flip negative thoughts into positive thoughts and stay mindful of how you’re perceiving yourself and the world around you. Some of the negative things that you may believe about yourself are likely not true at all, but a story you keep on telling yourself.

Focus On Getting Good Quality Sleep

Gwyneth Paltrow emphasizes the importance of a good sleep. She recommends a high quality 8-10 hours a night, which can seem like a lot! If you’re not getting anywhere near that much right now, simply try for an extra 30 minutes each week until you’re getting a good amount. Going to bed at the same time each night and getting up at the same time each morning, even on weekends, will be a huge help.

Cut Down On Meat Products

Christie Brinkley became vegetarian and she looks incredible. We’re not saying that’s the only reason for it, but there are all kinds of great reasons to cut down on meat products. Red meat may actually be harmful in large quantities, and it’s certainly better for the environment. Even just having a few vegetarian days a week can help.

Eat Lots of Colorful Foods

Celebrity Healthy Advice That Never Works

Below is an idea of the advice certain celebrities give out that never works:

  • Cut out carbs – cutting out a whole food group can be bad for your mindset and is not usually sustainable.
  • Drink vitamin shakes/meal replacement shakes – real food is better for your health, always!
  • Suppress your appetite with lollipops and other supplements – these things do not work and are just a way to take your money. There are no quick fixes for health.
