Smart Ways to Try and Stand Out at Your Next Trade Show

By  |

If you are at a trade show, then you will know more than anyone the importance of standing out. After all, you need to attract attention and if you don’t then your efforts will have gone to waste. If you are having a hard time really making yourself the star of the show, then here are a few tips that will help you to get started.

Start before you Get There

The real work starts before you actually get to your trade show. Get everyone together and design some t-shirts, swag, handouts and even pencils too. You also need to use social media to your advantage, as this will help you to build a buzz about your brand. Ideally, you want people who know who you are before they even get there because that way, they are much more likely to pay a visit to your booth. When designing your products, you also need to make sure that they are of the highest quality and that your logo is really clear. A lot of businesses invest in cheap stationary or t-shirts when attending trade shows but this can give your customers a negative impression of your brand. You may even find that your logo rubs off the pen before you even have the chance to hand them out, and this is the last thing that you need. A bit of extra effort will go a long way, and your potential customers will really appreciate it too.

Be Quirky

Giving out pens and stationary is great, but you also need to make sure that you give away items that are a little different too. If someone signs up with your service right there and then, give them a laptop skin, a pair of corporate headphones or even some socks. If the weather is scorching hot, sunglasses are a great investment. Of course, all of these little things can really help you to stand out and they also make it way easier for you to give a great first impression.

Check out the Competition

It’s so important that you do your research whenever you go to a trade show. You need to see who you are up against and you also need to learn what they are bringing to the table as well. Think about it, are they giving out candy? Are they hosting a raffle? By being aware, you can then work out how to make your business stand out even more and this can go a long way in terms of your sales and overall event success.

It doesn’t matter how big your company is because if your display does not reflect your business then you won’t be getting anywhere fast. Consider spending a bit extra and going a bit bigger. You will stand out more, and your customers may even relate to you on a higher level. After all, there is nothing worse than having a sad trade show display and you would be surprised at how much of an impact it can have on your overall customer base. If you don’t know where to start, consider looking at trade show booths 10×10.

Reusable Bags

At trade shows, everyone gives things away. A lot of businesses give away bags so that their items can be carried with ease. If you want to come out on top here, then you need to make sure that your bag is bigger than everyone else’s. When you do this, your bag will then become the receptacle for the other bags and it also means that you are displaying your brand on a much bigger scale. If you are giving away bags, then you also need to make sure that they are reusable. When you do this, you will then make it easier for people to carry on displaying your brand and you will also be doing your part for the environment too.

Create a Video

It doesn’t take much to set up a screen at a trade show, but it can do a lot to attract the attention of everyone who is passing by. When creating your video, you need to make sure that it is bright, clear and visual. If you have a video that is centred on speech, then you can’t guarantee that people are going to hear it properly and this could cause your efforts to go to waste. If you want to get around this then try and use imagery to convey your point and really make it stand out.

Be Creative

A lot of big businesses use fancy displays and they don’t bother customising anything. This is a mistake, you need to try and stand out as being individual as much as possible. For example, if you own a waste disposal service and you are passionate about the environment then consider bringing a tamed hare or a shrew to your trade show. Then, explain to people that if we do not look after the environment, animals like this will lose their homes due to pollution and improper waste treatment. Little things like this can really make an impact and you would be surprised at how much it can help people to really see beyond your brand. This isn’t your only option either, and you would be surprised at how creative you can really be.

Use your Design

When creating the design for your trade show, you need to make sure that everything is well-blended. You also need to make sure that your booth stands apart from your competition. Hire a graphic designer who understands your brand and also make sure that it makes sense visually. If you have a ton of colours that really do not work well with one another then this won’t give people a good impression of what you have to say, and it may even have an impact on your sales as a result.

Send Emails

When you do a trade show, you need to send out emails in advance. This way, you can encourage your existing clients to pay you a visit and this can work wonders for your overall presence.
