The 5 Most Essential Beard Products in 2019

By  |

I have come a long way from the smooth skin I had as a teenager and, in my early 20s, it always itched me that everyone thought I was a couple of years younger than I was. So, at some point, I decided that I was going to start growing a beard. I was going to learn everything I could about the process, get the best products and get right down to it. Growing a beard, like growing just about anything, is not a one-day affair. It takes time, care and, most of all, patience. You need to do all the right things and have faith that the right results will come along, even when they don’t seem so obvious at the moment.

This article isn’t going to be about any specific brands, but about the general arsenal of generic products, you should have in your bathroom cabinet at any given time. These help you to look after your beard, nourish it and get it to grow into the healthiest, glossiest, most beautiful beard you could ever possibly have. They’re all courtesy of Royal Beard Products so you can thank them for this list.

1. Beard Oil

If there is something, you need to get for your beard that would be beard oil. As people grow their beards, the number one thing they complain about is that their beards are dry and itchy. The beard oil takes care of both problems in one fell swoop. It conditions the beard hair itself, keeping it nice and glossy, while also keeping the skin underneath the beard moist.

2. Beard Brush

Here is another product that you might not think you need but will be grateful for having in the end. A beard brush is essential. You need to brush your beard every day to help in the process of exfoliation. Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin that, if left unattended, can make your beard itchy. Brushing every day also encourages your beard hairs to grow in a certain direction.

3. Beard Shampoo

This isn’t the same as the shampoo you use for your hair or even your regular face wash. Both of those products are known to remove all traces of oil, which makes them good for your hair and face but bad for your beard. Your beard needs a little bit of oil so that it doesn’t get dry or itchy. Beard oil makes sure your beard is clean but doesn’t lose its most essential oils.

4. Beard Balm

Beard balm is a lot like beard oil. The major difference between the two is that beard oil is liquid while beard balm is solid. Beard balm also contains a bit of wax, which helps to shape the hairs of your beard and hold them together. The very best beard balms should have just the right amount of wax that feels heavier than oil but not so heavy that it feels like you have thick gel on your beard.

5. Beard Trimmer

A beard trimmer is useful for cutting bits and pieces of your beard in spots without getting rid of the whole thing. It is especially helpful when you want to have a close enough cut without taking so much off that your beard gets especially itchy.
