American Chronic Pain Association has declared September a Pain Awareness Month, following numerous reports of chronic pain sufferers all over the United States. As the stats show, one in ten Americans has experienced pain every day for three months or more. On a Global Scale, over 1.5 billion people suffer from the chronic pain on a daily basis. Dr.Numb, the leading topical numbing cream, investigates what chronic pain sufferers can do on a daily basis to facilitate the symptoms.

 “Chronic pain strongly impacts the life quality of the patients, in some cases causing depression and other disorders. As an anesthetic cream brand, we try to offer any possible solutions for chronic pain sufferers, providing with strong and easy-to-use solution,” – says Daniel Shin, CEO and Founder of Dr.Numb.

Dr.Numb has been conducting its own survey on the company website, gathering 7761 responses over past years. As the results show, 56% of respondents use topical numbing cream for itching and/or pain relief. 17% use it for piercing, and 15% – for waxing/hair removal. Among other, respondents use the topical anesthetic for tattoo, skin needling, permanent makeup, laser treatments, minor surgeries and other. Although, the biggest group – 56% respondents – suggests that a huge part of the customers experience some kind of chronic pain or itching, that requires a topical numbing for relief.

So, how the topical anesthetic cream can help with chronic pain?

Topical numbing creams are effective for pain relief in such conditions as:

  • Muscle and joint pain;
  • Hemorroidis;
  • Arthritis and Osteoarthritis;

Dr.Numb shares its best practices for pain relief in each of these cases:

Topical anesthetic for Muscle and Joint Pain

Joint and muscle pain is one of the most common types of the chronic pain. Multiple health issues can provoke it: from bursitis to inflammation and fibromyalgia. One must consult with the physician to start an adequate treatment, although topical anesthetic may improve the state of the patient by blocking the pain signals and bringing an instant relief. In order to use Dr.Numb to treat this condition, make sure to apply a thick layer of cream and hold it for around 20 minutes, so that the cream can penetrate deeper layers of the skin tissue.

Hemorroidis

On a global scale, the overall prevalence of hemorrhoids in the general population is estimated to be 4.4%. It is one of the conditions that impacts strongly the quality of life of the patient, causing permanent pain and irritation in the rectal area.

Here are the steps to use numbing cream for hemorrhoidis:

  • Wash your skin with warm water and soap to remove oil and debris accumulated over it.
  • Apply numbing cream liberally over the skin. The first layer or coating should be done briskly and evenly.
  • The second layer of the cream will be thicker than the first one.
  • Wait for at least one hour. You can check numbing effect by touching the skin or slightly poking the area.

Arthritis and Osteoarthritis

Arthritis is one the most common chronic pain reason: by conservative estimates, about 54 million adults have doctor-diagnosed arthritis. This makes it the leading cause of disability among adults in the U.S. Numbing cream is one of the alternative pain relief therapies for arthritis. It dulls your skin patches so that you don’t feel any sensations or pain for a few hours. Here is how to use it for arthritis pain:

  • Wash your skin with soap and warm water. Pat dry
  • Apply the thick layer of the cream on your skin. Rub or spread (as directed on the pack) evenly.
  • Then, apply the second layer which should be thicker than the first one.
  • Use plastic wrap to cover the skin. It will generate heat to potent the numbing effect.
  • Remove the cover after one hour. Wipe off the excess cream.
