By  |

Xeljanz is a drug manufactured by Pfizer. It is used to treat arthritis. The prescribed drug works by suppressing the immune system of the patient so that the arthritis inflammation is controlled and in return, the patient feels relief from pain.

However, when taken in certain doses, the drug has been known to cause serious side effects that are not even displayed on the packaging. In fact, side effects from Xeljanz are so common that there has been a significant rise in Xeljanz lawsuits.

The problem is that the manufacturer of the drug, Pfizer has not warned properly against the many dangerous and often life-threatening side effects, one of which is blood clots. It was only until recently FDA finally concluded their investigation and has issued a warning against the drug. The statement by FDA clearly warns people that if the drug is taken in certain doses, it can increase the risk of blood clots in the lungs which can result in death.

There are many side effects of the drug, some of them are more common than others. These include –

What Should You Do If You’re Hurt by Taking Xeljanz

If you think it is too late and you have already been affected negatively by the drug, you have the option of seeking legal help. Victims who suffer from the side effects of the drug usually can file a lawsuit against the manufacturer on the grounds of defective design or failing to warn doctors and patients of the risks of taking the drug.

And to prove that you were indeed hurt by Xeljanz, you need to provide the following evidence.

  • You must be able to show that you were being treated for arthritis using Xeljanz
  • You must be able to show that you were taking 10mg of the drug twice a day
  • You must be able to prove that you suffered from a pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, stroke, pulmonary thrombosis or similar blood clot injuries.
