Under The Knitted Veil: Getting Over Body Confidence Issues With Style

By  |

It seems that we are forever swamped with the right way to wear something and whether this is due to your body type, how you look, it’s always about the aesthetics which means that we can all feel a little bit on the self-conscious side. It’s hardly a surprise that body confidence issues increase, but when it comes to having a very solid impression of ourselves. But if we still want to look fashionable, and use fashion as a device for empowerment, how can we combine getting over body confidence issues, while still looking our best, regardless of caring what anybody else thinks?

Focus On Being Healthy

We equate being healthy with being skinny. And if we want to lose weight we don’t have to resort to unhealthy tactics. A lot of people think that starving themselves is the best way. This is not the right way, but actually, being healthy with the right practice is far better, as is having a healthy routine. Think about the right routine for yourself and then have your fashion support what you want to achieve. For example, you could go swimming and easily find swimsuits made in the USA that match your contours, or you can purchase a swimsuit as a benchmark for something that you want to achieve. For example, if you want to feel comfortable in this piece of clothing. Before we get there, rather than focusing on image, we need to focus on being healthy instead.

Feel Comfortable Under Your Skin

Body confidence isn’t just about what’s on the surface; if you learn to accept the way you look, this means that you are going through a healthier process rather than trying to make major alterations to your looks. Fashion is a great way for you to dress the way you want. Instead of going for a cosmetic treatment, changing your clothes, and doing this in combination with the right practice in a mental sense gives you the opportunity to feel comfortable with who you are. As they say, you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have. But instead, dress for the person you want to be, rather than the person you are. But at the same time, think about what you really want underneath all the unhealthy social media posts and images you keep getting bombarded with.

Showing Gratitude For Your Body

And before you make all of these changes think about a healthy starting point. Showing gratitude towards your body, that you are healthy, and you are you, becomes the springboard to make healthier alterations. Because we can feel that we have to change every single component about our body, this belies a very unhealthy mindset. Start to be grateful for what you’ve got. There are always positives about who you are, inside and outside. You may feel that there are love handles, or you just think you’re unattractive, but show some gratitude, and this is a very healthy practice to becoming more accepting.
