The Ultimate Self Care List

By  |

Every once in a while, or perhaps every week if you’re really great at making time for yourself, there is nothing better than a pamper evening or a full day of self-care.

Many people make the assumption that you should push any kind of pamper sessions to a Friday evening. But actually, it could be a really terrible Monday morning you’ve had, and that’s the day that you need some self-care. In reality, it should be something that you can do anytime you need to. Like a Wednesday afternoon because you’ve had countless tough meetings or on a Sunday morning because you know you have the time to spare.

When it comes to looking after yourself and feeling taken care of, self-care and pampering are what you can do to recharge yourself. This goes even more so when people are relying on you, and you are doing things like cooking, cleaning, and working… The list can be endless.

But when you recharged, you become mentally, physically, and emotionally charged up. This will help you make sure that you really make the most of your time. And looking forward to something like a face mask, or reading your favorite book, can make sure that you can get through these hard weekly tasks. And it’s of no surprise and productivity will rise too, this goes for working at home, or if you work out the house.

Health

Something that many people put off is going to the doctors or the dentist. But the truth is you have to make time to take care of your health. Or the rest won’t really matter. So instead of putting off that doctor‘s appointment, or pushing the dentist back and back and back. Book those appointments, have those consultations and make sure that you have everything you need to have good health.

And if you aren’t already taking a multivitamin, then now might be the perfect time to start. Many of us are deficient in things like vitamin D, vitamin B12, and even iron. Over time any of these deficiencies can have a long-lasting impact on your mood and your overall health and vitality. So it might just be time to add a multivitamin into your daily routine too.

Hair

Unless you are a dedicated hairdresser going person, then chances are you have some split ends or dry hair. Not to mention some damage from heat. A great tip that will add a huge amount of moisture and some suppleness to the tips of your hair; is olive oil and a warm towel. This is a super simple tip; just warm some olive oil between your hands and smooth through the ends of your hair.

It is essential that you don’t get it on the roots because you don’t want a greasy scalp. Wrap the ends of your hair in a nice warm towel, this will help open up the hair shaft so it can soak in all of that oil. You only need about 15 minutes of this and then wash your hair as usual. Because this is all about making those moments last, take the time to give your whole scalp massage too, or consider a hot oil for hair treatment.

And if you happen to have super long roots right now, it might be the perfect time to get some dye and touch them up.

Warm Drinks

If you want to be extra kind to your body, then you should consider some mint tea or some herbal teas. Chamomile is known for its soothing and calming properties, and mint tea is excellent for reducing bloating and soothing the digestive tract. If you don’t typically drink herbal teas, these might take a little bit of getting used to. But you will enjoy the benefits in the long term. There are so many different types of herbal tea that you can try.

Of course, it might be the case that you just prefer a giant mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream, a nice stomach warming chai tea.

Slow Scrub

Most people are in a rush to get everything done. This includes things like exfoliating the body. However, because you have blocked out a chunk of time, you can take it slow. You can make an amazing exfoliating scrub at home, or you can purchase one that you’ve been really excited to try for a while. Try to make sure that if you’re going to buy one that you look for skin-loving ingredients, like coconut oil, argan oil, or rice milk. Take your time, perform circular motions all over your body to help remove all of the dry skin.

It is vital that you try to steer clear of micro-beads and opt for sugar scrub instead. They are better for your body and the environment. Your skin will look brighter, and it will help improve the blood flow and smoothness. Coffee scrubs are particularly popular right now, and they smell great.

Face

If you don’t already have a daily face care routine, then blocking out time for a pamper night, or morning will give you the perfect opportunity to give your face some love. We are all well aware by now that drinking the right amount of water is going to give your skin a big boost. However, there is a helping hand to be had from plenty of outside sources-in the forms of creams, potions, peels, and other treatments. Take a good look at your skin in the mirror and try to decide what you think you might need.

Do you have dry patches? Are there areas that are a little bit dull? Any redness? Ahead of your ultimate self-care day, pick up a couple of face masks that are tackling your skin issues. There are many moisturizers, both day and night, that will give you an improved skin look too. If you’re looking for a quick but if effective face routine, then try a clay mask to help clear up any spots and outbreaks, and eye patches to help brighten, and a lip mask or at least a slick of super moisturizing lip balm.

Music

Add a soundtrack to your self-care. Many people find music to be one of the most relaxing and uplifting things. The trick is to have a playlist that works with whatever mood you’re in. If you have some pent-up negative energy, and you might want to release that, listen to your sad songs, or the ones that you can really get lost in will help you to release that negative energy. If you have tight shoulders and a little bit of pent-up energy, it might be time to put on some music that gets you dancing. This will help you bounce around and work out all of those kinks in your muscles. If you’re not great at making playlists, most streaming services have great playlists, but you can choose from. Just try to pick something that you enjoy.

Comfort

You probably already have a dressing gown, what you need is something that is only for your self-care days. Try to have something that makes you feel luxurious. You know in the movies where the actresses are walking around in embroidered bathrobes or silk sets? Try to channel that energy into your self-care time. Of course, some comfy jogging bottoms, fluffy socks, and an oversized jumper are perfect too. It’s all about what makes you feel great.

When it comes to self-care, or having a pamper day, this isn’t about being selfish. Self-care is essential for your mental health, and taking care of your hair, nails, and skin can be a lot of fun too. It can help you relieve stress and strain and relax and unwind.
