8 Betting Strategies Beginners Can Use to Get Their Feet Wet With Confidence

By  |

Learning to place bets can be challenging. It’s tough to have confidence when you don’t know what you are doing. Fortunately, there are several strategies that beginners can use to learn to place bets with confidence.

Remember that there is no sure bet, even at Oddsfactory. Having confidence is good, but no one knows what the future holds, and no bets are sure things.

  • Start With Small Bets

As you begin your betting journey, start with small amounts. You might not succeed at first, and losing too much will make it difficult to get better. You’ve got to practice in small amounts so you can continue to practice.

  • Start with What Your Know

If you don’t know anything about basketball, then don’t bet on it. Pick the sports you know, and stick with them. You’ll have an easier time picking teams with players you know and sports you know.

  • Know the Home Team Odds

In any sporting event, the home team usually has the advantage. So, when the best teams are at home, you might have more luck than not. If the odds, spread, or under-over works, you might have a good day.

  • Look Beyond Your Favorites

It is easy to always bet on your favorite, but those teams might not be the best options to win. You should pick the teams that offer the best odds of helping you win money. That’s the goal, after all.

  • Know the Spread

Betting on the spread is complicated because there are several factors involved. But, in a simplified version, the spread is looking at a score and the difference between them. For example, if a spread is 2, then the winning team has to win by more than that for betters to win.

  • Know the Over/Under

The over-under is a sports betting option that lets you choose whether a total score will be over or under a certain number. For example, you might bet that two baseball teams will have a combined score that is under 10. If they score 9 or fewer runs, you win. If they score 10 or more, you lose.

  • Stay Disciplined

It is important that you only bet what you can afford. And, if you struggle making a choice, then you shouldn’t bet. You should never allow your emotions to take over when you are making a bet. You should only bet on what you know and how teams have done in the past. You can only learn from what teams have done as you hope to win money off them in the future.

  • Keep a History

Each time you place a bet, keep track of what you did. What did you bet, what was the risk, and how did you do? Keep a record of your wins and losses. Keep track of the teams you chose and how they did. As you track your betting history, you might start to see a pattern
