1. Flying on the Same Halyard

If you want to put state flags or city flags on the same halyard with the United States flags, the American flag should be at the peak. The lesser flags have to be flown below the American flag at all times. If the flags are flown from flagpoles that are adjacent, the U.S. flag has to be hoisted first and lowered last. 2. Flags of Two or More Nations

When there are flags of two or more nations they have to be flown from different staffs of the same height. The flags also have to be around the same size. All of the flags have to be raised and lowered at the same time to never display one flag above the flag of another nation. It is not proper to display the American flag at a higher elevation than another international flag during peacetime. 

3. Against a Wall

When the flag is displayed with any other flag against a wall from staff that are crossed, it has to be on the right. The staff with the American flag also has to be in front of the staff of the other flag. 

The right is considered the position of honor. 

4. On a Podium

When the American flag is displayed on a podium, put the U.S. flag to the right-hand side of the presenter. Display any other flags to the left of the podium or presenter. For the audience watching, the American flag should appear to the left of the presenter while the other flags appear to be on the right. Any state flags, organizational flags, and city flags have to be on shorter staffs than the American flag. If you are displaying any international flags these should be displayed at the same height as the American flag.
