Selling A House During Covid-19

By  |

Selling a house during coronavirus might seem like an impossible feat to pull off, but there are still people out there who need to find homes to move into, and yours could be perfect for them right now.

All you need to do is adjust your selling strategy a little, take some advice from your estate agent, and even use the points below to help you out during a time like this. If your property has been on the market for a little while now, it’s time to adapt to our new modern, and learn how to make a sale that’s health friendly.

Think About House Prices

The house prices during Covid-19 are going to be a little different to the house prices you’re used to seeing. After all, we’ve never dealt with a global pandemic on this scale in the modern era before, and people have less money to make use of than they did a year ago.

So, it’s important to keep in mind that house prices may be lower, and you might not get the price you really want for your property. However, the housing market tends to bounce back quickly, and from here onwards, we may be seeing a return to the standard prices. Just keep an eye, and put your property on the market when the right time comes.

Offer Contactless Viewings

If you want people to know about your property, and to be interested in it, you’re going to need to still offer viewings and/or walkarounds to really show off just how much potential your house has. However, you’re going to need to do so in a healthy, socially distanced manner. How do you approach this?

Well, you could allow the viewers to go around alone by dropping off a set of keys. Or you could make use of Touchless access control within your property, and have remote settings on windows, doors, and alarm systems, and guide a potential buyer round via a bluetooth piece or a phone call.

Approach Your Property Differently

And finally, it might be worth your time to think about using your property for a different purpose right now. Instead of selling it off, why not think about renting it out? For example, you could have multiple tenants on the go at once, if there’s more than one bedroom, and levels that are easy to separate.

You could also think about dropping your current estate agency and using a different one, or going through an auction house to try and get as much money for your property as possible. Depending on how you feel about your chance, and about the estate agent you’re currently working with, this could speed up the selling process by a few months.

Selling a house right now might not seem like a good idea, but it’s doable, and people are still making money off of their empty properties. Think about what you’re selling, and if it could be done differently.
