Dispersal agents are poured into the polluted waterbody to biologically disintegrate the oil leak. Changing the oil into oil droplets in the water causes them to be spread by wave motion into the surrounding sea. It is assumed that naturally occurring bacteria would then absorb the droplets, and biodegrade the dispersant rapidly.

The occurrence of oil spills would ideally be zero but in our times when oil exploration is on the rise it’s best to be prepared with effective damage control.
