Eat Your Hydration for Dinner

By  |

They don’t call it ‘beauty sleep’ for no reason. As well as sleep being proven to maintain cognitive function, keeping us focused and on point with our daily tasks, it can also improve the way we look.

But did you know you can take things one step further by continuing your beauty routine while you sleep?

Here are some of the things you can literally do in your sleep to enhance your beauty when you wake up.

Staying hydrated is important at any time of the day, but staying hydrated throughout the night helps to keep you looking and feeling fresh when you wake up in the morning.

This doesn’t mean drowning yourself in water before you sleep (unless you want to go to the bathroom multiple times in one night)-but you can eat moisture rich foods that will also work to keep you hydrated without needing to feel your way to the bathroom at night.

Include foods such as veggies and nuts which release hydration slowly to keep morning headaches at bay!

Cleanse Your Skin Before Bed

Keep your makeup remover by the bed, then no matter how tired you get before you climb into bed, you’ll have no excuse but to take off your makeup before going to sleep. Going to bed in your makeup will make things much worse the morning after with a messy pillow, irritated eyes and clogged pores- just to name a couple of the issues.

While it’s far from ideal to rely on using wipes, they’re a skin savior for those ‘I just can’t be bothered’ nights.

On the nights you are prepared, cleanse your skin thoroughly before putting a night cream on your face. Removing your makeup will give space for the product to seep into your skin and work its beauty magic while you sleep.

Sleep with Invisible braces

If you’re going through a teeth straightening treatment, ask your orthodontist about getting nighttime braces that work at night while you sleep, meaning you get to enjoy the benefits without being restricted by the aligners throughout the day and ruining your vibe.

Night time braces are like plastic retainers that are used to encourage your teeth to stay in position, but this with the added benefits of tooth realignment.

Massage Your Scalp

We can all get a headache after a long day. If that happens to you frequently, try giving your scalp a massage. This will also encourage healthy hair growth and helps you to unwind before you go to sleepScalp massages are like facial massages as in they increase blood flow, and stimulate hair growth from hair follicles.

Massage your scalp using your fingers, moving them along your scalp in deep, slow motions.  Do this for a few minutes before giving your hair a good brush and putting it up in a loose bun if your hair is long. Keeping your hair away from your face will help to keep the skin clear and free of oils, preventing blemishes forming throughout the night.
