Six Celebrity Marriages that Ended During the Pandemic

Quarantines can generate short tempers, loneliness and an unwelcome amount of free time for soul-searching activities. Plenty of Hollywood celebrities have discovered these truths the hard way during the coronavirus pandemic’s enforced isolation. 

An unprecedented number of marriages and domestic partnerships have ended during Covid-19, and your favorite couple might have split like Lucy and Desi, Sonny and Cher or Brad and Jennifer. 

Marriages End, but the Show Must Go On 

According to psychologytoday.com, the psychological effects of quarantines include loneliness, boredom, irritability, anger, denial, and stress symptoms. Couple those characteristics with volatile Hollywood personalities, and it is a recipe for almost certain marriage flare-ups. 

Some of the top breakups during the pandemic include the following couples. 

1. Carly Waddell and Evan Bass 

The couple were brought together on Bachelor in Paradise and separated during the pandemic. After three years of marriage, the couple decided to split on December 23, 2020. It was time to find a new reality show. The stars claim to be divorcing amicably with great respect for each other. The couple share two children: two-year-old Isabella Evelyn and one-year-old Charles Wolf. 

 

2. Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wade 

A long relationship doesn’t guarantee that a couple have worked out ways to get along. Ted Lasso star Jan Sudeikis and Booksmart director Olivia Wilde worked their way through a 10-year relationship and 7-year engagement before throwing in the towel. 

Conflicting information dates the separation from both mid-November and the first of 2021. The split is characterized as amicable, and the couple have supposedly developed a strong co-parenting strategy. 

3. Johnny Galecki and Alaina Meyer 

Johnny Galecki, star of The Big Bang Theory, and live-in girlfriend Alaina Meyer proudly announced the birth of their first son in December of 2019, but less than a year later, the couple announced their decision to separate. 

Prior to the relationship with Meyer, Galecki secretly dated his Big Bang theory co-star, Kaley Cuoco, for two years, which is a great way to get more bang for the buck. 

4. Tiffany and Rob Riggle 

Tiffany Riggle, better known as pop star Tiffany, filed for divorce from comedian Rob Riggle in October of 2020. She is seeking joint custody of their kids, Abigail and George, who are 16 and 12 respectively. Tiffany is asking for spousal support, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce. The couple actually separated earlier in May. 

5. Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy 

Former Full House star Mary-Kate Olsen is petitioning for divorce from her husband, Olivier Sarkozy, after five years of marriage. Currently starring on Grey’s Anatomy, Olsen signed the petition on April 17, 2020, but New York courts were backlogged because of the Covid-19 pandemic and weren’t accepting divorce petitions. The couple has always been extremely private, and they have revealed no details about the split. 

6. Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum 

The former Bachelorette Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum have decided to divorce after eight years of marriage and three children. The couple jointly announced the news on October 14, 2020, but Hebert later admitted that the couple had been separated for months. 

The couple have decided to go their separate ways and create separate lives for their children. Rosenbaum, a pediatric dentist, stated that the divorce was amicable, and Hebert asked that the media respect their privacy. The couple met on the Bachelorette set and married in 2012 in a televised fairy-tale wedding.
