The Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic Returns with Bang

It’s Tee Time again at Oheka Castle in Huntington, Long Island. The much-anticipated return of the Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic is scheduled for June 28 and 29 and participants and guests are already clearing their calendars for a piece of the action.

Back in 2010, Rich “Big Daddy” Salgado, President and CEO of Coastal Advisors LLC Insurance Consultants, launched the charity event which has drawn a wide variety of celebrities from the world of professional sports and entertainment. After an unfortunate COVID-19-related hiatus, Salgado is excited to bring it back this year and to expand its purpose at the same time.

This year, Salgado established a partnership with SHER, a women’s empowerment organization founded by Anzhelika Steen-Olsen. As a result, the typically golf-centric event will boast a women’s empowerment luncheon which will be followed by an evening soiree. The SHER portion of the event will boast key celebrity speakers and musical performances. Participants will also receive gift bags from sponsors, David Yurman and Dior.

Beneficiaries of this year’s Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic are Merging Veterans and Players (MVP) and the Orthopaedic Foundation. Founded by Jay Glazer and Nate Boyer, MVP brings combat veterans together with professional athletes through physical fitness programs and peer-to-peer support. The Orthopaedic Foundation promotes developments in orthopaedic  surgery and treatments for children and adults.

Among the noteworthy celebrities already lined up to hit the links are Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, Zack Moss, Steve Levy, Scott Ferrall, Anita Marks, Jim Trotter Merril Hoge and Neil O’Donnell. Off the course, others attending include Jill Nicolini, Jeff Hoffman, Tracy Morgan, Curtis Martin, John Randle, Stanley Cup Champion Dennis Seidenberg, Hisham Tawfiq and Jeff Hoffman, founder of priceline.com and Chairman of the Global Entrepreneurship Network. NFL Network Host, Brian Baldinger is also a committed participant. This, of course is only a partial list of the big names on board, but there will be others there as well.

“The luncheon will be a magical time,” says Steen-Olsen. “Sharing stories of women overcoming obstacles and finding ways to thrive exemplifies what SHER is all about. It’s a way of life.”

“We’re putting a lot of work into the Big Daddy Celebrity Gold Classic this year,” adds Salgado. “It’s very exciting not only to raise money and awareness for MVP and the Orthopaedic Foundation, but to bring in the important work of women’s empowerment that SHER brings to the event.”

Of course, COVID protocols are in place with outdoor and indoor participant capacities at Oheka Castle, and tests are requested on the invitations with results reported 24 hours before the event.
