5 Actors Who Are Also Successful in Business: These Are Their Stories

Almost everyone has a favorite celebrity. In fact, many of us have a few actors and actresses that we follow almost religiously. We make it a point to see every movie or television show they appear in and chomp at the bit to find out what they’re going to do next.

While it’s easy to get caught up in the fictional scenarios that surround them on television and the big screen, we often forget that they have entire lives outside of acting. Some stars have even transcended the Hollywood spotlight to become successful in the world of business.

1) Excelina Ordonez

Born in Bogota, Colombia.  Excelina Ordonez has certainly made a name for herself as an actress. She has starred in numerous movies and television shows and even hosted radio shows. She has also produced several popular movies. In some instances, she has taken on the challenge of being both a producer and a lead actress. On top of all that, Ordonez has been named an Honorary Ambassador at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Behind the scenes, she’s a successful fashion designer as well.

2) Jessica Alba

Another multi-tasking actress, Jessica Alba has appeared in quite a few popular movies. Fantastic Four, Valentine’s Day, and Awake are only a few of the blockbusters for which she’s known. Alba has appeared in several television series as well. She also created a successful business called The Honest Company. Her aim with this entrepreneurial venture is to create environmentally friendly products, such as diapers, beauty products, household cleaners, and other items. This California native has already created a following for her products across North America and Europe and may extend her reach even further moving forward.

3) Clint Eastwood

Few people haven’t heard of Clint Eastwood. He got his start in Hollywood during the 1950s, and his name is still well-known. His first big break was playing the role of Rowdy Yates in the television series, Rawhide. From there, he went on to star in a long list of movies, including The Good, The Bad and The Ugly; A Fistful of Dollars; The Outlaw Josey Wales; and Dirty Harry. He’s also known for his leading roles in Space Cowboys, Heartbreak Ridge, and Gran Torino, to name a few. These days, he’s the owner of a range of businesses, such as the Mission Ranch Hotel and Restaurant and the Tehama Golf Club.

4) Sandra Bullock

Born in Arlington, Virginia, Sandra Bullock first took to the stage at the age of five. From there, she studied music and dance, ultimately moving on to the big screen. Some of her most well-known movies are Speed, Miss Congeniality, Gravity, Demolition Man, and The Blind Side. Off the screen, she founded a successful production company dubbed Fortis Films and was the executive producer of the sitcom, George Lopez. Bullock is a restaurateur as well.

5) Dan Aykroyd

When people think of Dan Aykroyd, the Ghostbusters franchise and Coneheads often come to mind. Aykroyd also starred in the movie Dragnet, which placed a comedic spin on the original television series of the same name. He appeared in numerous additional movies, including The Blues Brothers, My Girl, and 1941. His other pursuits include being co-owner of the House of Blues and developing his own vodka brand, Crystal Head.

From the Screen to Behind the Scenes

These are only a few of the actors and actresses who have made names for themselves outside of television and the movies. They’ve followed varying paths that have taken them everywhere from restaurants and clubs to fashion and environmental concerns. While it’s often difficult to picture them off the big screen, they’re certainly making as much of a difference in the real world as they do in the fictional realm.
