They don’t do it for the fun of it. Instead, they do it because they know that training yields tremendous results.

Then use specialist software to deliver courses that fit into workers’ work flows. Add to this hands-on training that gives your colleagues practical skills that they can use on the job. Second, flexible working allows employees to organize their days more productively. Most people, for instance, don’t want to work until late afternoon. Instead, many want to get their work out of the way early and then enjoy a prolonged evening. Getting into the office early facilitates this. 

Usually, when you give employees more control over how they work, you find that they create better arrangements for themselves. For some workers, getting up at 10 am and rolling into the office at midday is the best strategy. 

Curb Your Meetings

Productivity experts believe that meetings in many companies reduce output and brand competitiveness. That’s because they tend to lack focus. Top CEOs know this, which is why they adopt such strict approaches to them. 

Here are some ideas that you could try to make your meetings more efficient: 

  • Reduce the time employees are allowed to spend in meetings – perhaps setting an upper limit of 20 minutes
  • Cut down on the number of people who attend meetings, eliminating anyone who isn’t directly involved
  • Slash how many meetings your firm conducts overall every day, week or month
  • Use alternative means of communication, such as email, for minor questions and clarifications

Improve Emailing

Highly productive firms also invest time in ensuring that employees make the best use possible of email services. Research suggests that the average employee spends around 13 hours per week writing emails – time that they could be spending on more productive tasks. 

Encourage your employees to block time for emails. This way, they won’t continually switch between their regular duties and responding to questions. Most employees should block three 15-minute sessions per day for email – morning, lunch and evening – and then keep the rest free for their regular activities. 

Ideally, you should keep your emails short and to the point. Tell employees how to quickly type out an email and how they should structure and title it. Give them training on how to provide all the necessary information the person reading it needs. 

Also, avoid sending employees emails in the middle of the night. This can increase anxiety and lead to sleeplessness which affects their on-the-job performance. 

Transform Your Workplace

Lastly, but by no means least, you’ll want to transform your workplace. To keep employees productive, ensure that they have sufficient natural light. Workers that have more light coming into their offices tend to sleep much better at night. 

You can also do things such as including more plant life in the office. Greener spaces tend to make employees feel more comfortable so that they are better able to get on with their work. Green is an excellent color for motivation.
