On Friday, New York City broadcaster Rich Valdes and daughter, Jaida Valdes, attended the red carpet NYFW debut of Potro by Joseph DeAcetis at Sony Hall in Manhattan.
The show, powered by Runway 7 Fashion and benefitting Mount Sinai Hospital, drew designers influencers from across the globe.
DeAcetis, who is the style editor at Forbes Magazine, is one of the most familiar figures in menswear and has assembled a line that is casual, classy, and comfortable. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be showing Potro. What a great place to be during New York Fashion Week!” DeAcetis told Gotham Magazine.
Valdes, who is the host of “This Is America with Rich Valdes” on iHeartRadio, was on deck at the runway show to support the brand whose namesake has LatinX roots. Potro is the Spanish word for foal and the entire line embraces a modern-day cowboy feel as part of its aesthetic. Valdes is one of few American broadcasters, in the conservative news/talk radio format, that is of (Puerto Rican) Hispanic heritage and has earned the monickers “America’s liberty-loving Latino amigo” and “the voice of Hispanic conservatives.”
Valdes told Social Lifestyle Magazine that he is “always proud to support entrepreneurs succeeding in their pursuit of the American dream. This show represents just that.”
Other brands showcased on Runway 7’s NYFW catwalk include Lagirla bringing its Caribbean flare straight from Puerto Rico and PUR (Peace. Unity. Respect) which shared a powerful message of peace through its streetwear collection.
