5 Steps To Draw Up An Efficient Health And Safety Plan

When it comes to safety procedures for a business, there is no such thing as too much. In fact, some senior managers go as far as to say that they don’t want to hear of safety ever being an issue because the company’s priority should be on protecting their employees from harm.

4. Communication

If you have conducted a health and safety risk assessment, it’s likely that you will have established a number of preventative measures – some of which may be beyond your control, for example, in relation to your suppliers or customers. In this case, make sure that all employees are fully informed about these measures and are aware of where they can get help if it’s needed. Ensuring that everybody knows about the risks in place and their associated preventative measures also ensures that you are taking full responsibility for all employees’ safety – even when other people are involved in the process.

5. Monitoring & Reviewing

It is essential to monitor your health and safety plan and review it on a regular basis. This ensures that you are following the actions detailed in your plan and also includes any new developments or changes to be made within the workplace or its processes.

Steps 1, 2, and 3 might not sound like something that needs to be formalized. However, you need signage and markers like Industrial Tape in place. Also, you need to have a documented process in place for when an incident occurs. This ensures that your employees know exactly what they should do when an emergency arises and helps to reduce any risk of panic setting in.  

An effective health and safety plan protects all of your employees and, most importantly, keeps them safe.
