The Health Effects of Cannabis

By  |

Have you been told time and time again how bad marijuana is for you and that you shouldn’t be consuming it? Do you know that cannabis is incredibly beneficial to your health and something very helpful to a lot of people?

Cannabis has been around for some time now. Its use in the United States is still illegal, but some states have legalized it for medicinal purposes. The question of Cannabis being used as a medicine has reared its head before and will continue to be debated. Cannabis is becoming more and more mainstream as its medicinal benefits are discovered. There are many different ways to consume cannabis. Smoking is the most common way to consume cannabis, and it’s done by either using a bong or a pipe which you can learn more about at Daily High Club, but there are many other options available. You can eat or drink it, vape it, or apply it topically. Different methods give you different effects, so people need to experiment until they find what works best for them.

Many believe that cannabis should not be approved because they believe it to be addictive, too dangerous, or even worse–a gateway drug that leads to more harmful substances like cocaine or heroin. On the flip side of the coin are those who argue that cannabis can help with pain relief, seizures, or mental illness among other things. There is no doubt that cannabis offers some positive health effects, and we’re here to break them down for you.

What is cannabis

Before we start talking about the health benefits of cannabis and what it has to offer, first let’s discuss what cannabis actually is. Cannabis is a species of the hemp plant that can be grown both outdoors and inside with correct lighting and temperature. The type of cannabis that most people smoke or consume is called marijuana, and they use the flower of this plant.

The marijuana flower contains multiple different compounds called cannabinoids and these are the different reactive compounds. The two most common and popular cannabinoids are CBD or cannabidiol, and THC or tetrahydrocannabinol. CBD is the cannabinoid that is responsible for all of the health benefits, whereas THC is responsible for that stereotypical high that everyone is looking for.

For recreational users, THC is the compound they are most interested in, whereas medicinal users are more interested in the benefits that CBD has to offer them. Cannabis can be found in many different forms and can be consumed in many different ways from the herb itself that can be smoked to oils, and concentrates that can be vaped, used in a dab rig, or even cooked with.

Now that we know a bit more about what cannabis actually is, here is how it can help you and what the different health benefits are that it has to offer its users. Many people know cannabis to be a recreational drug that can give you a euphoric high and can make you feel great, but it actually has a lot of health benefits.

Research has shown that cannabis, or more specifically, CBD, can be very effective in helping treat a multitude of different symptoms of varying diseases, disorders, and conditions. For those who suffer from mental conditions such as anxiety, depression, and even PTSD, cannabis has a calming effect. For those who are suffering from chronic pain or inflammation, it is great at relieving this too by working in a similar manner to pain medication.

Cannabis has also been shown to help and relieve the effects of different diseases and conditions such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, and more. However, it is not a cure for these problems. It is merely just a way to help relieve some of the symptoms.

Cannabis is also becoming more and more prominent in skincare for those who suffer from acne and other skin conditions.

How to use cannabis responsibly

For those who are thinking about using cannabis for medicinal reasons, there are a few precautions that you should be taking before you get going. Although cannabis is not necessarily a harmful drug, it can be damaging in the long run if not used correctly.

As a minor, when consuming cannabis can cause an effect on your growth. As an adult, excessive use of cannabis can cause long-term degrading effects such as memory loss. When using cannabis for health, especially if you are going to use it in conjunction with other medication, or prescription medication, you should always check with your doctor beforehand to make sure that it will not interfere with that medication or cause any negative side effects.
